<p>As long as your recommendations and essay are good, I don’t see a reason why any school would reject you. I’ve heard that students should avoid writing about disease, divorce or death in their college essays but you sound like your experience was very moving for you and it seems like it will really show your unique perspective to anyone who reads it. Just remember that a lot of admissions are essentially a lottery, but I’m certain you’ll find a school that fits you.</p>
