Hello! I’m looking for someone to chance me for UPenn Early Decision (College of Arts and Sciences, Political Science)
Also, if someone can read over my essay through PM to have a better idea of my candidacy, please comment below. Thanks!
GPA: 3.91/4.0 unweighted, 4.53 weighted
SAT I: 1500/1600 750 - Math 750 - Writing (this is my predicted score, receiving it next week), old score was 1380
Course Load: 11 APs
SAT II: I’m taking Literature, Math II, and US History next month
No class rank in my school
Trilingual
Common App Essay: 8.5/10 (I wrote about how my hate for indecision conflicted with my agnosticism, and how religion made me realize I don’t need to be afraid of not knowing all the answers; kind of a touchy subject though)
Supplement Essay: haven’t even written it yet tbh
Guidance Recommendation: signed the waiver so I couldn’t read it; I have a pretty good relationship with her, so she can’t really say anything but good things about me
Teacher Rec #1: 10/10 - AP Lit teacher (I was quite the teacher’s pet and I received the highest score in the grade on my mock exam)
Teacher Rec #2: 8/10 - AP World History/Comparative Religions teacher (I was fairly close with her and did very well in the class, but my AP score disappointed her (5 on mock, 3 on exam)
Extracurriculars/Jobs/Summer Studies/Community Service:
- President of Ambassador program at my school (I volunteer at every school event)
- Captain of Varsity Field Hockey (4 years)
- Lead vocalist in school musical (4 years)
- Peace club (2 years)
- Debate Team (1 year)
- National Honor Society
- Writing Center Tutor (1 year)
- Minority Scholars Program (3 years)
- HOME Program at Johns Hopkins
Awards:
- AP Scholar w/ Honor
- Scholar 4.0 Athlete
Hooks: African-American (first generation American, Ethiopian parents), low income single mom (around 30k), first generation college
Summary:
Strengths: URM, first gen, GPA, teacher #1 rec, course rigor, hopefully my SAT if it’s what I want it to be
Weaknesses: essay (whether someone likes my essay or not is too subjective to tell), awards
