Chance me for UPenn ED :)

I’m applying ED to the Jerome Fisher undergrad program next year (Currently a junior) for Computer Science and Business dual degree. If I don’t get into JF then I’m automatically considered for just Wharton. Here are my stats:

SAT

750 Reading
770 Math
790 Writing

ACT

36 Composite
36 Math
36 Science
36 English
34 Reading

SAT II

800 Math Level 2
610 US History (Ugh… I’m retaking US History and I’ll be taking Lit)

Unweighted GPA 4.0; weighted GPA ~4.65

APs

15 total APs by graduation
Exams so far:
AP Euro(4)
Ap Physics(4)
AP Lit (5)

Taking 6 APs this year (Both Econs, Calc AB,Computer science, Lang, USH)
and 6 next year (Environmental Sci, Gov, Stats, Calc BC, psych, human geo).
I expect 4 or 5 on all of them.

Extra curricular

4 year varsity Basketball player - 2 years as captain
Programming team Founder/President
1100 Community service hours (various things)
I’ve published my own app
Intern for Congressman
Visual Arts Director (paid employee) for a large local church
Taken a couple humanitarian trips overseas
(Hopefully) attending UPenn’s M&T Summer Camp this year
NHS member
Student government class rep
Student government treasurer
Chess club member

I’m a white middle class male, so nothing special to help me there… Thanks affirmative action.

I’m worried about my SAT II; also, my SAT score I posted is the superscore.

I got a 2010 first test (9th grade, so they won’t care much), 2240 second test, and 2170 third test. Superscored to a 2310.

10th grade ACT was 32, 11th grade ACT was 36.

Thanks guys; appreciate any input from UPenn undergrads/ people who have heard back from UPenn admissions.

Oh yeah, I also got a 1460 on PSAT (New PSAT; max is 1520)
Probably will be a National Merit Scholar, but don’t know until they actually release info.

I’ve not a Penn undergrad nor has applied to Penn, but thought I’d write this anyway.

Your SAT scores in the individual sections are all above Penn’s average scores. They add up, superscored, to 2310, which is almost in the 75th percentile, which means you are above average by about 150 points. Your ACT is above the 75th percentile by 2 points.

Definitely improve your United States History SAT II score.

If you are submitting your SAT score then Penn wants you take certain subject tests, depending on what it is you plan to study.

Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences: 2 subject tests of your choice.

Nursing: Science subject test, preferably Chemistry.

STEM: Mathematics Level 2 and a science subject test (preferably physics for engineering applicants).

Business: Mathematics Level 2

Unfortunately, some of your extracurriculars are rather common. During senior year, try to do more that will set you apart from the crowd. However, keep following your passions. The internship and your job is good, as well as your app.

Your GPA is above average, but barely.

I think you have an okay chance. You can become more competitive by doing more extracurriculars and improving your GPA.

Good luck to you! I also hope to apply to Penn early decision, but I’ve still gotten a few more years until it is time to apply.

Wharton is the best business school in the country. Jerome Fisher is even more competitive. While your academics are very, very good, your extracurriculars don’t have the it factor to get in. (not counting the UPenn summer program)… like anthropologyanya said, you need to improve your extracurriculars (maybe not more, but perhaps something pertaining more to business)… I’d say Upenn Wharton is a Mid Reach with Jerome Fisher M+T being a very high reach.

good luck!
