Thanks for the optimistic advice, but I don’t think they’re all matches haha

Anyone else have any opinions?

Chicago, Penn & USC all have admit rates of 20% or less; that statistic alone should have you considering them reaches. Your GPA and ACT are essentially at the mid-point at those three schools - “Average” Stats with low admit rates equals ‘low reach’ to my way of thinking. I think you’ll get into two of three (Wharton has a rumored 9% admit rate, so that needs to be considered an extreme reach).

Your GPA is basically average at Michigan and Virginia, your ACT is above average. Those facts combined with Michigan’s and Virginia’s higher admit rates (40% & 30% respectively) make them Match schools. I think you’ll probably get admitted to both though, as an out of state applicant, I think the majority of financial aid will be in loans.

Thanks for the descriptive explanation!

UPenn - Reach for all
UVA - low reach
UChicago - such a crapshoot I don’t want to comment
Michigan- high match
Usc- low reach

Good luck

Thank you!

Any other input?

Bumppppppp

Anyone else?

do you have SAT IIs? Honestly I don’t think ECs are all that important so don’t worry, as long as you’re committed to something (like your table tennis). You chanced me and I got into Michigan engineering early so I guess you could reference that. Also, what is your senior year course load? You left out some important info.

UPenn - Reach
Chicago - Reach
USC - High Match
UVA - High Match
Michigan - Match

You’re very qualified and have a decent chance of most of these schools, best of luck to you.

ahqb8ghs - This year I’m taking AP Calc AB, AP Macro, AP Micro (combined in the same course but 2 separate AP’s), AP Psychology, Accounting, Creative Writing, Participation in Government, Mass Media in Society. Also, I never got around to taking SAT II’s because I took the SAT twice and the ACT once and I couldn’t keep taking Saturday’s off from my job because I only worked weekends

And thanks girlynerd!

Bumppppppp

UPenn: reach, as it is a areach to all
UChicago: reach because of your GPA
UVA: high match
Michigan: if you are applying to LAS it’s definitely a match. Reach/high match for Ross.
USC: I think it’s a match

As long as you write about your commitments and your true feelings your ECs are completely fine. :)

Thank you for your reply in my chance thread!

UPenn Wharton – Reach
Chicago – Reach
UVA – High Match (maybe a low reach)
UMich – Match
USC – High Match

Good luck! :-)

Thank you!!

I think you should feel pretty good about the two state schools based off of my experience and I would think USC is similar, Uchicago and Upenn on the other hand will be more of a crapshoot with average chances

Thanks for the input!

Anything else?
