Chance me for UPENN

Currently a Junior. Be Honest.

ACT: 34

SAT Subject Tests: Math II 800, U.S. History 780, Chemistry 780, Spanish 720

GPA: Unweighted: 3.94; Weighted: 4.59

EC's:

-The major one is that I started my own non-profit organization (because I am an amazing piano player) to raise money for Crohn's Disease (one of my friends has it). I hold concerts with my teacher's students and raise money through tickets, raffles, and donations. My first concert I raised $10,000, the second and third upwards of $11,000. All of the money went straight to CCFA. I got published on many newspapers and websites and It was very successful. I am very happy with this.

I teach piano, I tutor in subjects, I'm on NHS, I take my non-profit to senior centers to perform for the elderly, I volunteer at this counseling center, DECA, SBAC etc...

-Many business internships as that is my desired major (probably Economics) and online Business classes.

Are you applying to Wharton? I think you have a decent chance at it. Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1508365-wharton-cornell-ed-others.html</a></p>

I think I’m going to do Econ at CAS

Apply ED (10char)

cherries!!!

bump!!!

Hey! I’m also applying CAS Econ at UPenn. First of all you should know it has its pros and cons. It’s easier to get into CAS, but the Wharton kids are going to get first pick when it comes to on-campus recruiting. Also the CAS Econ major is mathy and technical; you’ll get a fantastic foundation. While on the other hand, Wharton Econ is more business-oriented and will get you prepped for real-life business applications. It’s 2 different teaching strategies both with tremendous reputation and worth.

I agree with astonmartin that applying ED would be great for you. Your ACT score is good, your subject tests are fantastic, and you have a very very unique EC. I think you have a fantastic shot and I wish you best of luck!

Chance me back? [Chance the New Guy! Penn, Harvard, Chicago and More!!](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1509778-chance-new-guy-penn-harvard-chicago-more-will-chance-back.html)

Thank you!!! Are you doing Wharton? I will chance you also.

Penn is my problem school haha. I can’t decide between CAS and Wharton. All the other universities…I know which college/school I’m applying to. But I’m definitely torn between CAS and Wharton for Econ, but ultimately I’ve decided I’ll apply to CAS. It suits me because I love math and econometrics :)

Haha I’ll probably do the same. You are doing the regular admissions right?

Either I apply ED to Columbia or Penn; we’ll see which one I feel like in a couple months haha

Do Columbia so we don’t compete! ;)

Bump!!!

With a strong GPA, ECs, SAT II’s and an above-average ACT, UPenn CAS would be a (very attainable) low reach. Just so you can guage that off of what I think, I very rarely call any ivy a match for anyone unless they have near-perfect scores. Just show your dedication to the school and do your best to say you’re interested in the program that you’re applying to now without leading them to think you’re applying only so you can transfer to Wharton later.

With great essays that show a good sense of both passion and fit, you have as good a chance as anyone. Good luck!

If you could chance me back, I’d really appreciate it!

Thank you so much! I will chance you!

alexmass,

I think after evaluating your application holistically you have a good shot, definitely a higher percentage above the average applicant. Having said this I think you should apply to several top notch colleges, because even though Wharton is your #1 choice it all may come down to the flip of a coin, and you may have to settle for somewhere else.

You have a really good chance at UPenn b/c of your GPA, scores and ECs. I’m applying planning on applying ED for CAS. I would recommend that you apply for Wharton Economics, rather than CAS because Wharton is more business oriented Economics, while CAS is more theoretical economics.

Mind chancing back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1512185-chances-will-chance-back-2.html</a></p>

Hey I’m also applying for UPenn… well you’ve got some good stats here!! Whether you apply to CAS or Wharton is based on what you would like to do really. I’ll be applying to Wharton haha. Good luck!! chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1506757-chances-wharton.html</a></p>

Bump!!!

You’re a super tossup. You have reasonable stats, but only one ridiculously strong EC. I would say yes, but honestly Penn might just decide they have enough piano players this year and say **** it. As someone with one primary focus, you should definitely do ED and hope that Penn decides to just lock down their musician quota early on.
