What do you guys think my chances are?

I got a 1950 on the SATs

I believe all applicants must seek nomination from some kind of government official in order to be considered for admission. Many kids look to Congress members for these. Do you also have this on your list of accomplishments?

I haven’t applied for that yet as it is not neccesary for me until next year. What do you think of my academics though? Is it enough?

Do you mind listing your SAT subsection scores? Your GPA is competitive, and although it isn’t exactly an “A” average which USNA looks for, the rigor of your courses should pull you through assuming everything else is in place.

Math- 650
Crit reading-670
Writing-630

Based on your stats, you need improvement in leadership and scores. If you can’t improve your scores, try to start a couple new clubs

How is your physical fitness? That is a big component of applying to military academies.

How many more leadership positions is ideal? I currently have 4 and 10 clubs?

As with all college admissions, the important thing with activities is depth of participation rather than breadth. Said another way, there is no magic number of leadership positions that USNA is looking for in a candidate. IMO, focus on meaningful activities/leadership in the clubs that you are passionate about.

On other items:

 1. USNA super scores SAT and ACT and admissions recommends you take both. My son was 740 or something in Math on SAT, had a not-so-competitve score on CR but had 30 or so on ACT English/CR. So his USNA app. reflected Math from SAT and English/CR from ACT.
 2. Get in shape for CFA, go to Summer Seminar and do well on CFA to take that off of your list of things that need to get done.
3. Finish app to USNA by late August. Boards start reviewing in early Sept. so strong candidates can receive LOAs in September.

Good luck

Forgot to mention - are you taking Physics or Chemistry? If not, I recommend that you consider adding either/both.

Sorry for multiple posts but also recommend you look to the following link as another resource as you pursue an appointment:

[Naval Academy - USNA - United States of America Service Academy Forums](http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6)

Your SAT scores are actually above average for USNA.

Go to the USNA website to find their physical fitness test, then practice it during the summer. Get good, then remember… it is pass/fail. Doing great will not make up for other weaknesses.

I also live in Maryland 3D (applied for Sarbanes). Hm…I’ve had a chance to look at your threads. Would you mind telling me if you are a target candidate? Please don’t feel obliged. I am just curious. Also…I haven’t gotten an LOA. Do you need your personal statement item finished?

I’m so blown. I can’t pass this frickkin test. I hate it. I don’t want to do ACT for a couple of reasons…USNA prefers SAT and I’m already accustomed to SAT. I wouldn’t want to switch. I am going to do another test in January which is allowed for USNA and USMA. I’m not sure what I can do from here. A close friend of mine who is a senior at the Naval Academy has helped me for interviews and personal statement. Do I need to send my personal statement for an LOA. I am not expecting an LOA. All I want is to be accepted my a service academy. Yes my scores are absolute minimum dear god, but my dream is to be a commissioned officer.

PS
-my BGO is sorta slow in response and it takes her like a month to respond. should i take all Q to office?
-is it to late for BGO interviews? I have 6/7 items done (BGO has not responded and I emailed her a week ago from this date)

You are on the right track, just make sure you have a mile time around 5 minutes, can max out push ups, sit ups, and can do over 30 pull ups in a single set
