other-
interviewed with USC

I think my application and enthusiasm during my interview made it pretty clear just how much I love the school. I know merit scholarships are very hard to get, but I was curious if anyone thinks I have a chance at even getting the interview. I am not even sure I have the numbers to get in, I feel like I am pretty border line. However, could you please chance me for just regular admission and then also let me know what you think my chances of getting an interview for a merit scholarship are?

@cadreamin - its just a different way of doing it. A lot of schools use a 100 point scale instead of a 4 or 5. It is hard to accurately convert it.

@socaldad2 - I had not seen that. I thought it was pretty difficult, because the school itself seems difficult to get into. Thanks for the link

Hey concernedsenior, I’m eargerly awaiting the USC scholarship news also but really I’m just hoping I will get accepted. From what I see, you have a very good chance of getting in. Your ACT’s and GPA are very good. Your EC’s are good as well besides having only 100 hours of community service.

My stats are very similar to yours so I’m very curious about what people say about your chances.
SAT: 2240 2nd sitting
UW GPA: 4.94 W. 4.7
9-10 AP tests by the end of senior year.
EC’s: NHS President, Physics Club President, Spanish NHS, Acadeca, 2 years of basketball (Freshman/JV), one year of cross country (JV), school tutor, volunteered for many places (300-400 community service hours)
*did not have an interview :(

Your ACT is very good though your GPA will be below the average admit. As for merit aid; many USC students get merit scholarships, if you’re asking about one of the full or half tuition scholarships I think your chances are low. The issue is the size of the other awards. A $4,000/yr scholarship is nice but it makes a very small dent in a ~$55,000 annual cost to attend.

@vinceh - thank you. I’m not expecting full or 1/2, I just would like to get some sort of money. Even if I don’t, getting in would be amazing in itself
