chance me for usc, ucla, and georgetown please!

Hi all,

I'm a junior looking apply to these schools in the fall. I attend a public high school in california. I would say my school is fairly competitive, it got a silver medal rating on US news, but most of the top students attend USC, Cal, or UCLA rather than ivies. My GPA is a 3.75 unweighted and 4.34 weighted (soph and junior years). I'm in the top 5% of my class, 27/620 or around that. A big problem for me is that I got 2 C's sophomore year for an honors trig/pre calc class, how badly will this affect me?? My SAT score is 2130, 690 CR, 720 M, and 720 W. I plan to take it again in October and get over a 2200, hopefully. My ACT is 33 composite. I will have taken 10 AP and 4 honor classes by the end of senior year. I haven't done much for school, I'm just part of the California Scholarship Federation, math club, and junior committee. I've played HS volleyball for 3 years and club volleyball for 2 years thus far. I've attended Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth summer programs since the summer of 8th grade. I'm attending the JHU/Northwestern civic leadership program at Cal this summer. I volunteer at a hospital and an orphanage, where I tutor young girls, weekly. Next fall, I'll be part of a CNA program where I volunteer at an elderly home and shadow nurses. I plan to apply for nursing at GU and possible at UCLA too, but the admit rate for UCLA nursing is a bit terrifying. Please give me some feedback and chance me if you can!

I know someone with a 34 ACT who will be going to USC in the fall. I also know someone with a 32 who was admitted to UCLA but will be going to UMich, and I think your 33 falls within their range. as for your C grades, I feel that if you were able to improve your math grades in the following year, then it would show personal growth and maturity. your ecs are okay. georgetown may be more of a reach, though.

Thank you for the response! Yes, i know georgetown is a reach for me, unfortunately. I’m currently taking regular calculus, and my grades in math have improved to an A. I’ve gotten straight A’s so far during junior year. So I have a bit of an upward trend.

would it help if i were the only one to apply to GU from my school?

I don’t think that would be a decisive factor at all, so probably not.
