I have been captain and vice president of debate which I've been a part of for four years, I was a state qualifier for Congressional Debate for two years, finalist for one of them, National alternate in Congress and International Extemporaneous. In DECA, I went to State and placed 2nd in Restaurant and Food Service Management and went to Internationals, I went to state in Mock Trial, I am in Student Council as a representative. I have done Model UN for two years including this year, I have volunteer hours, and I have a published essay on the topic of racism and inclusion in the International Journal of Critical Pedagogy. What are my chances for USC, UCSB, and UCLA? Keep in mind that uSC is not like the other two as it is a private school, not a public school if that changes my chances at all. Thanks for the chancing and I'll chance you back!

UCLA might be hard because of your GPA, they really value it. I don’t know about the others, though.

Are you saying UCLA is harder than USC?

sorry I am exausted. It depends I guess but they are about even on the rankings. I would put them even at Reach

UCLA puts more weight on GPA than USC. So, in your case, it would be harder for you to get into UCLA than USC

Unless you really killed the SAT (like 2000+) I’d say slim across the board.

Consider Santa Cruz, Riverside, Merced and maybe Irvine are better matches. Any CSU but CalPoly SLO - we’d need more info since they count freshman grades and weigh how many math, science and language (english too) courses you took.

I’m nervous. ****.

UCSB- Low Reach
UCLA- Reach
USC- Reach

UCSB: High Match
UCLA: Reach
USC: Low Reach

Chance back!

So what’s the definitive on UCSB? Is it a reach or match?

Somewhere on the borderline
But wait for your SAT scores… if it is above 1950, it’s probably a match

I’d say that you are most likely to get into UCLA. The most unlikely is probably USC. Although USC and UCLA are similar in rankings, I’ve always been under the impression that USC is more selective. Both are tough schools and I wish you the best of luck!

Chance back…?<3

UCSB is definitely a low reach. Their average GPA is about 4.1 and 1950 SAT. Both of these are higher than your stats

Which of my traits should I focus on for my USC essay?

I don’t understand how people can put USC as more likely to accept me over UCLA, and in some cases UCSB. Isn’t USC one of the most holistic and popular colleges to apply for in the entire country?
