So I applied to USC (Southern California) which is my top choice school and I wasn’t selected for a merit scholarship, so now I’m extremely nervous about whether I’ll get in at all as my stats are not that great. I know that their admissions process is holistic but I thought I’d share my credentials and get some other opinions on whether or not I have a chance of getting in.

GPA: 3.7 uw, 4.1 w
Rank: my school does not rank
SAT: 1520, (750 EBRW, 770 Math, 18 for essay)
didn’t take the ACT
AP: AP Lang-4, AP Chem-4, AP Calc BC-4
SAT II: Math level 2-710, Chemistry-720
Senior Year Courses: AP Stats, APES, AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Macro, Programming, Leadership
EC’s and other activities:
-National Honor Society President (member junior year, president senior year)
-Student Government Senior Rep (1 year)
-Diversity Club (4 years)
-Varsity Sideline and Competitive Cheer (3 years)
-Host at Red Lobster for a year, currently work at Target
-Attended mission trip to DR with my church youth group
Common App Review:
Common App Essay: probably like a 7/10, I wrote about my experience living alone for all of high school and how it negatively impacted my life but I overcame it, good and unique concept but could have been written better, provides some insight as to why my grades weren’t as good as they could have been
USC Prompt Essay: 8/10 I wrote the essay about a time my beliefs were challenged and it was about a political disagreement I had with a girl when Trump was elected. Probably a risky topic idk
Academic Interest Essay: 8/10 I talked about my desire to study human biology and become a physician. I also wrote about my inclination towards creative writing and how I wanted to explore that at USC as well.
