I'm looking to go into Computer Science and/or Computer/electrical engineering(so trying to do both software and hardware, might double major)

here are my high school stats:

first, I come from the 6th best school in Kentucky, so Im OOS, but keep in mind pretty much all Kentucky schools are bad.

GPA UW:3.91(2 B's, both freshman year in stupid classes, I'm sure they'll notice this on my transcript
GPA W:4.0
rank:school does not rank, but will say top 10%

ACT: 28 (35 math, 26 science, 26 english, 26 reading, 8 Essay), and taking it again in December, and on my last one, which was without writing (so I can't use it), I got a 35/30/26/31, composite 30, so I think I can at least get to a 30, and probably upwards of a 33, but expecting a 31 or 32.

SAT:1810, dunno if I should send it, just had a bad testing day.
CR:590 Math:650 Writing:570 Essay:9

AP Classes:
Junior: Statistics(5), AP English Language(4)
Senior: AP Calculus BC, AP French, AP English Lit, AP Psychology, AP Computer Science AB

ECs:
French Club:10,12

Science Club:12

Awards:

Commonwealth Diploma(when I graduate, most distinguished Highschool Diploma offered)
Magna Cum-laude(when I graduate)

Seeking a lot of financial aid, since my family is being hit hard with financial problems with the recession and my mom's alcoholism. (made ~$30k last year), and not sure if admissions are need-blind, but I know if I get in, the need will be covered.

Current grades are excellent, and teacher and counselor recommendations should be great, as I know all of my teachers, and my counselor very well.

Thanks for any responses!

It is very difficult for anyone here to state your real chances because there are so many factors involved in admission at USC. You can, however, compare your statistics with USC published admission stats as well as with stats from those who posted here on CC (not always accurate).

The latest Freshman Profile and Admission Information for 2008 - 2009 shows Fall Admits had a mean unweighted GPA of 3.8.
The middle 50% SAT was 1960 - 2230 and the middle 50% ACT was 29 - 33.

Other factors include- (from the USC Admission website under Admission Standards):

In addition, essays, recommendations, interviews, fall grades, and additional requirements for selected majors can be factors for admissions. A student may also have a talent that could be a hook like a sport, unique situation or special accomplishment. Legacy is not considered a factor for admission.

Good Luck and Fight On!

USC is need-blind in admissions, so be sure to apply for financial aid. Submit the FAFSA and CSS/Profile by the end of January. Good luck!
