Schools:
University of Texas at Austin
Texas A&M University (rather go here than UT if accepted at both)

Graduating from a competitive high school. Looking to major in petroleum engineering in both these schools. Any help would be appreciated. Please be as honest as possible. Thanks in advance.

so, even though you don’t meet the automatic rank guideline, your SAT is in teh range and your GPA is up there, too.

i would guess IN at A&M.

i know it is harder to get in at UT, so i would guess NOT IN.

and, basically, i think there are UT people and A&M people. most people would not choose EITHER ONE or the OTHER. most people choose ONE or THE OTHER.

A&M- Match
UT Austin - high reach. Almost impossible to get in if you are not in the top 10%. Are you going to CCISD ? If that is the case, then your ranking and GPA may not look as bad.

yeah, I’ve heard that you have to be in the top 10 percent to get into UT’s engineering program. I know they have an excellent school though. Alot of money going into that place.
