Hi! I a white male junior at a large, competitive public high school in a Dallas suburb.

By far my top choice for college is University of Texas at Austin because it is a Top-50 caliber school at an in-state public tuition cost and I really love the diversity, spirit and atmosphere of the campus. Anyways, I have some uncertainties about UT's admission policy and how it will effect my chanches.

By law, UT must accept all applicants in the top 8% of their graduating class. These automatic admissions usually take up about 70% of the seats in each new class. Which leaves everyone else fighting for only a few seats. I am just outside of my school's top 10%, because as I said, my school is very competitive. My school does not rank outside of the top 10%, so I am unranked. How much will not being an automatic admission hurt my chances of getting in? More information below.

SAT I: 2260 (R:800, M:700, W:760)
