*Family probs fresh/soph year trying to address in essay to compensate for poor grades:[

Holy crap! Plano?! You guys are geniuses AND have the world’s most beastly swim team. My coach was actually ****ed because they skipped over you guys for steroid testing hahahhaha :P

You have very good chances. UT is a match for you, but don’t be surprised if you get waitlisted or rejected. It’s all about the class rank unfortunately.

pixeL214, looks like your stats are similar to my Son’s. My understanding is there is no rush to apply if you are non-top 10 since they need to process the top-10 applications and assess available space before reviewing the others.

You have a good shot actually. The rank is very important, but there are always students not in the top 10% who get in, and usually they don’t have the extra curriculars or test scores that you do.

THERE IS NO WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR ACCEPTANCE INTO ANY UNIVERSITY!!!
sorry, but it’s just the truth of the matter.

You do seem, however, to have excellent scores and grades, as well as extra curriculars, which will not hurt your chances.

true, you’re not in the top 10% of your class, however the new rule for the school is that they will accept a certain percent of in-state students who are not in the top 10% of their classes.

My roommate was not in the top 10% of her class, and she was still accepted even with the old rule, so you never know what will happen.

As long as you work hard, get your app in on time, have solid test scores and grades you have a CHANCE at getting in, but no guarantee. But good luck.

I understand that there is no guarantee of acceptance but i just wanted to know what people that attended the school though. thanks for the input.

Any things i could be doing before applying to boost my chances?

since your in state, UT is goin to reject you
the reason=class rank not fit for UT
the real reason=they can’t take everybody who goes to a high school in plano
