Chance me for UT Austin por favor!

I've been dreading doing this.. but I probably should

My school does not rank or provide unweighted GPAs. I have a 4.0 weighted GPA.

2160 SAT. Got a 1440 on CR and M, the average for McCombs is 1350. Oh yeah, I want to go to the business school. I'm from in state also.

Over 350 hours of community service (ive volunteered for almost 6 organizations throughout high school). I also won Volunteer of the year for friendship circle, an organization for which I volunteered 100+ hours.

I'm OK in the leadership department - nothing too impressive, but I was class rep in student council and I'm running for school president next year. I also singlehandedly started the student led newspaper and I'm head editor and founder (i spend at least 3 hours a week on this)

My extracurriculars are OK too - I've been involved in a couple of things, again nothing impressive.
I can get one or two rec. letters from teachers that recognize my potential and success and that know me very well, but does McCombs even look at those letters?

I have worked with 2 different companies throughout hs and I'm a pretty decent essay writer, but haven't began writing them yet.

I am also applying very early, probably around first week of September.

Edit: I am Hispanic, speak 3 languages, and I'm also writing the Optional Essay C (the special condition is that we dont speaking English at home). I am also taking a very rigorous schedule my senior year, with 6 APs.

So, chances for McCombs? Thanks!

Bummppp I’m desperate for some insight

You will be fine based on ethnicity and academics. However, McCombs is a business school, so showing a bit of business on your resume might be helpful – like, raising advertising dollars for your founding of the school paper. Business is about profit, after all.

Very interesting. Didn’t think about that. Thanks!

Are you a brazilian? hehe
Well I think you have pretty good chances for being in-state and with high SAT scores!

You say your GPA is weighted so what is the highest it can be?

I’m from Panama.

I have absolutely no clue what the highest GPA you can have is. My school is awful and unorganized when it comes to GPAs. They don’t even bother to give us an unweighted one.

However I think the highest is a 5.0.
So I have a 4.0 on a 5.0 scale.

Keel it up and you should be fine :)

woot woot

any other takers

I would say you shouldnt be worried about just getting in. Your GPA is pretty good and you SAT is definitely good enough. For McCombs youve also got a good shot, your SAT is there and above and your EC’s are good. Its always hard to say without an official rank though because it all depeneds on how they decide to place you. I would say you are a shoe in UT and a good chance at McCombs!

Sweet! Thank you SO much guys!!
Now I just need to work harder and start writing my essays and resume
Btw, since I don’t have a rank, does it matter if I apply early on (beginning of September) or does it make no difference?

My counselor keeps saying they do rolling admissions and I have a higher chance of getting in if I apply earlier, but I read somewhere that it only applies for students that are ranked. True?

No you should apply ASAP. They do rolling admission and it does make a difference!

Ooooh okay! Thank you so much man!
