3.5/4.1 GPA, national merit semifinalist, hoping for a 34 on my ACT, 1700 hours of community service, top 5 percent in community service in the state, DECA national qualifier, DECA vice president of local chapter, FBLA national qualifier, FBLA vice president, member of Kansas city youth symphony, president of school orchestra, all state and all district orchestra. 1s at state solo an ensemble festival, variety tennis, hopefully captain of tennis team. Also NHS member, but honestly everyone Gets into NHS. Owner of a startup business, what are my chances at UT? Also what can I do to improve my chances of getting in? I'm looking to major in either INdustrial engineering, or finance/accounting.

Chill, looks like you have a bunch of good stats. What’s your class rank?
You have way more extracurriculars than I had when I applied and I got in.
Have a good admissions essay. Send in the letters of recommendation from your teachers. Should be good to go.

If you’re a junior, then good. I think if you’re really looking to up your chances, find a way to get something that’s relative towards whatever major you want and put that on your application. Like um “Young Engineers of America” or whatever. DECA runs close to it I guess. I used to be in it shivers. haha. You’ve probably been in AP too, so that’ll look good.

Your little spiel sounds pretty well rounded too.
Don’t stress too much. Good luck!

Thanks a lot! Also my class rank isnt too high. It’s right around 25 percent or 20 percent. I feel like my strong ec’s, national merit, and class rigor will make up for it. Are there any on site interviews I could set up possibly to help my chances?

I don’t think they do interviews for undergraduate prospectives. Just grad schools.
You should check with an admissions counselor and ask them what all you can do.
Hound them 'till they tell you all the secrets! haha
BUT REALLY. xD

Worst case scenario based on your resum

Where else do you suggest I apply based on my interests in business and engineering?

Are you from Kansas?

I am from Kansas

Does it help to apply to a not so popular major at UT an hope to get in? And then transfer to the desired majr?

Bump bump bump

C’mon guys!

Any chances? Also, I can send my national merit preliminary results to two schools. In that case, shouldn’t choose Ut Austin? Or would that be a waste?

This is somewhat urgent, so can someone respond?

Bump bump bump! I have to send my response in by Sunday!! Please respond! Also what do typical OOS Mccombs students look like? Would I make it?

My guess is you will not get in based on your rank but will be capped. You really need to get in the top 10% or so even though its “hollistic.” I really doubt that you will get into Mccombs or engineering based on your rank. You do have a chance to get into the college of UGS though
