Chance me for UT Austin

In-state, Public School
Rising senior
Rank: 7.4%
GPA: 3.87 UW and 3.92 W
ACT: 28
Ecs: NHS, video production, key club, UIL spelling and vocab.
Jobs: lifeguard last summer
Volunteering: I don't know the exact number but I know I have quite a lot. Probably over 300 hours
AP classes: AP Human Geo, AP World History, AP English III, AP English IV (next year)
I didn't do well on the first two AP tests but got a 4 on the third.
Taken all Pre-ap courses all of high school
Have taken 5 dual credit courses and got A's in all

Planning on applying to the College of Liberal Arts as an English Major

I'm taking the ACT again in September to get above a 30 because I am just outside the auto admit range.. will that increase my chances? Any advice is appreciated!

If at all possible break the 7% mark then as you know, you are an auto-admit. If you can then get the HS councilor to send a report then to show you are top 7%. Otherwise your ACT needs to go up to have a better chance. UT likes class rank and test scores.

At least you aren’t picking business or engineering so that helps too. For an English major you have a chance.

Thanks! Also, what ACT score do you think would make it more likely for non-auto admits to get in? I’ve heard non-autos usually have to have a 33 and killer essays to be considered competitive…
