Chance me for UT Biology?

I’m actually freaking out about not getting the biology major cause it’s my first choice. Here are some of my stats -

Rank: 4/584
GPA: 5.627 W, 4.0UW
SAT: 1490
Race/gender (if that’s relevant): Asian female
courseload isn’t bad - all APs: whap, apush, psych, bio, lang, calc ab, stats, chem, and econ (I 'm taking dual credit english, humanities, and govt this year).
Brief overview of my ECs/leadership: orchestra cello section leader, key club co-treasurer, vice president of online school newspaper, track/tennis (9-10th grade), NHS, etc but I can’t remember off the top of my head lol
Brief overview of volunteering: I play in my church’s string ensemble & sing in the choir, peer tutoring for bio and calculus, orchestra UIL competitions, and stuff w Key club like this one local shelter for abused mothers and children.
Random talents/awards: ap scholar w/ distinction, self-taught in HTML coding & website design, top 1% class rank, calligraphy/handlettering (I own a business account for it on instagram), some orchestra stuff like region orchestra, state solo & ensemble, etc. I feel like my skills/talents are distinguished but not sure if the AOs will care bc they’re not related to my major

What do you guys think? I’ve already applied but am currently working on my separate resume and getting my letters of rec in soon.

I think you’ll have no problem getting into biology. My daughter is in CNS. Your stats are very similar to hers and your SAT is a bit higher.
She had good EC’s but not too much related to science either. She had 2 great letters of recs. I don’t think she included a separate resume but I can’t remember.

Just know that she was notified of her acceptance to UT in October because of auto-admit but didn’t get notified of her major until Feb 1. Don’t worry if you have to wait until Feb 1, to hear. All her friends heard that day as well.

Good luck!

@Mojo1995 Thanks so much! That makes me feel a lot better.

Your chances are excellent. I’d be very surprised if you didn’t get in. In fact I recommend you apply to honors programs, your stats are certainly good enough for hss, poly, ds.

@ForseeableFuture thanks for the response! I got my acceptance and was beginning to doubt myself again for biology, but I have my fingers crossed and your response helped. I decided to apply for the honors programs too! \m/
