Chance me for UT?

SAT score: 1950 (retesting. Probably a 2100-2300)
CR:670 M:630 W:650

ACT: N/A (testing in September, aiming for 30+)
AP Scores: Apush:5, AP English Lit:4, AP Spanish Lit:5
Senior AP Courses: AP Gov, AP English Lit, AP calculus ab(maybe bc), AP Spanish Lit, AP physics b)
Top 10% (36/700 or so last year, AP probably in the 10-20s this year)
GPA: ~3.2-3.3/4

Prospective career paths: Aviation, Business, Law, Nuclear Engineer, History, and Military Weapons Development.

ECs: marching band, symphonic band, soccer, Spanish honor society, and not much else.

Leadership and Accomplishments: Sousaphone section leader, JV soccer, 1 of 2 5s for APUSh, first I think in the school's history (lol, and first because I finished a little early), 1 in tuba/baritone quartet for solo & ensemble

Other info: Mexican born, Undocumented alien (came at the age of 7), have lived in Houston Texas for 8 years now, and family income at around $36,000. I qualify for in-state tuition.

The current rule is top 9% in UT for 2012. If you are in that, you are in.

So I would say you are in if you have that rank while entering 12th.

Ok, thank you
ive been stressing a lot lately and what not. Hopefully a better SAT grade helps me get more financial aid.
Should i worry too much about the essays? Because im a first generation college student and do not know a lot.

For an admission, the only criteria UT uses is top 9%. You need to apply to a specific school/major when applying to UT and so you can not have so many different majors under consideration.

If you are targeting specific programs like honors, plan II, engineering etc, they consider your other accomplishments such as SATs, APs etc.

Yes, I am considering honors and will most likely go into nuclear engineering. Do you know if it its too hard to get into the engineering school?
I’m currently studying for the SAT on Oct and hope to get a better grade, so my admission can be almost assured as well as my financial aid, coming from a modest family.

Your GPA is that low, and you’re in the top 10% with 700 students?! WTEFF! Your SATs are average, and your math score should be a lot higher if you want to get into Cockrell.

I don’t think there is a specific nuclear engineering program (only a certificate). I think you have to apply for Mechanical Engineering first… As for financial aid, UT is VERY STINGY with its rewards. Only if your EFC is like 0 would you get a decent amount of aid, especially with the new budget cuts just passed.

um Xcellerator aren’t average SAT scores around 1500??? Stop being a jerk. those are great scores. I think that you have great chances for UT!

Average UT scores… -_-

I would say overall a match.

I think we do ranks by weighted. I have a decent weighted GPA with all my AP and GT classes.
Yeah, I’m trying to work on math. I hope to at least get it to 700 by October for the SAT. Currently, I have the highest SAT in school, so maybe that could make me stand out? A 2100+ would surely do would it not?
Thanks for the replies though :)
