Chance me for UVA ED??

Hi, please help chance me for UVA ED. I think I want to apply there ED but I am not sure because I am afraid that my SAT scores aren't very good enough which might get me waitlisted and thus that I would have a lower chance in getting accepted into UVA regular decision.

GPA: 4.3960 weighted (I don't know my unweighted GPA)
Classes: all IB classes and have gotten straight A's (no A-'s) until junior year in which I ended up getting three A-'s in IB HL English, IB Physics, and IB HOTA
SAT I: 2200 (but I will be retaking it this October so hopefully I can raise it up... My goal is 2300)
SAT II: Math 2-730 and Physics-670 (bad... I know...)

EC: president of school Key Club, Science Olympiad, volunteer at Georgetown Medstar Hospital, intern at USKAF (which is partnered with the Smithsonian) for 2 years then advanced to being one of the staff members this year, Operation RISE (science club), have other things too like viola, etc.

Awards: many many all A awards, two PVSA awards, Smithsonian certificate, academic excellence awards, 4th place regional Science Olympiad award... Those are all I can think of at the top of my head.... Not a lot... Meh.

Ethnicity: Asian (Korean)

Location: FCPS (Virginia)

I am so so so nervous about applying ED but my parents want me to so please help chance me!! Thank you so much!!

Only on CC will someone question a 2200 -____-

Hahaha yeah but because I am Asian I don’t know if that score is good enough (I am not trying to be pretentious here at all). But besides my SAT I score I was mainly concerned about my SAT II scores.

Wow, I really don’t think you have to worry at all. First of all, you have phenomenal grades (better than mine, and I’m considering UVa to be a target school), and also, you’re from Virginia, so that should help you. Your SAT is not low by any standards, but there’s no harm in boosting it. Just make your application interesting and show that you’re passionate about something, and honestly, you’ll be fine!
(Also, for the record, UVa doesn’t offer ED, only EA…which I’m doing, so maybe see you in Virginia!)

You’re in state and your grades / test scores are outstanding, you’re a lock. I don’t want to sound like the other needy people here but I’m also shooting to attend UVA and if you wouldn’t mind giving my thread a look - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1537840-depth-chance-me-thread-low-gpa-high-ecs.html

Well, attending FCPS* is one strike against you but besides that, there is no such thing as a “lock” for admittance to schools like U-Va.

And, just so we won’t be accused of being an “east coast elitist,” for the uninitiated FCPS stands for Fairfax County Public Schools.

[Fairfax County Public Schools](Home | Fairfax County Public Schools | Fairfax County, Virginia | Fairfax County Public Schools)

Thank you all so much for the replies! I am so anxious about college applications and colleges and blahhh it’s all too much!

But do you think with my current SAT scores I can still get in EA?
Or should I try to boost up my SAT II scores as well and then apply regular instead?
I am just so so worried that I might get waitlisted EA and then that in the regular pool I won’t be as good as the other candidates.

Also, what do you think about Cornell regular???

Oh and if I do UVA EA, do you think it is wise to include my SAT II scores? UVA highly recommends two SAT II scores but mine are not that great (especially my physics)…

Your scores are definitely their for UVa!
However, no one is ever guaranteed admittance. However, I wouldn’t be terribly worried.

bump…

I’m in FCPS too and I have friends with a lower SAT (one was Indian, if that helps you with the whole Asian thing) than you who got in! You will do fine!

I also have a full Asian friend who was concerned last year about if he’d get in cuz his scores were good but his ECs weren’t phenomenal and he got into Echols.

Your ECs are phenomenal and your grades aren’t exactly shabby.

You might want to retake one-two more SAT IIs for the 700 range if you’re stressing and need to work on anything.

I’m sure you’ll get in, esp. with the EA decision…demonstrated interest;)

Lock, that sat is killer
