Teacher Recommendations: 2 from teachers and 1 from guidance counselor, all three pretty much love me, not to sound arrogant or anything, lol.

I moved to Virginia at the start of my junior year, so that's why I have random clubs lasting for only 2 years.

At 1710: Reach
At 1910+: High match (maybe match, or even low match, depending on the size of the increase)

I would use your ACT score because it is much higher proportionally than your SAT score. Everything else looks very good, but if you could get your SAT 2000+ or a 30+ your chances would be much much higher.

Will you chance me back?? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1394435-chances.html

Where do you live in Virginia? My son attends UVA and loves it. That said need to raise SAT to 2000 plus to have shot (and perhaps higher if from NOVA). May want to also consider William & Mary which is less numbers based than UVA but about the same in rep and selectivity

Okay I will take all of your advice into account, thank you so much!

One more question: Say I don’t get over a 2000 on the SAT or over a 30 on the ACT, should I still apply EA? Or should I do RD? I’m really confused and people are telling me to do Early Action since I’ll be competing against a smaller pool and if anything I’ll get deferred, but ah I don’t know!
and I live in NOVA… sigh.

btw what does reach and high match exactly mean? Sorry I’m not very fond of this…

oh and how long does it take for scores to be sent to colleges through collegeboard/ACTstudent.org? like my UVA deadline is November 1st, and scores have to be in by then… I think. so i get my scores for this month’s SAT on october 25th, if i send them right away after finding out my scores…will they get to UVA on time? I mean isn’t this all electronic anyway??

or should I just go on the website right now and add UVA to the list? i just don’t wanna risk it before I even know what my scores are.

UVA is still a high match even with a 28 for an ACT superscore (and UVA superscores) simply because you’re from NOVA. Were you from, say, Roanoke, your status would be better.

Reach: A school where your acceptance chances are slim (if they exist)
High match: A school where rejection is likely but whose acceptance odds are higher than in a reach

Okay thanks for the clarification. So basically, if I get a 30+ or 2000+, I’ll have a low match?
