Sorry if this is a lot of information...I am new to this but please change me for UVA or any of the other schools I listed above!! THANK YOU!

Im also a senior from nova and i have very similar stats as yourself…also applying early action to uva. You should definitely get into UVA pretty easily assuming you have good essays, teacher recc’s ect…I believe you’ll get into W&M, Wake, UNC(also applying there) aswell. Don’t know much about richmond tho.

Duke and Gtown will be very difficult to get into. I’ve only seen top like 1-5 ranked students in my school get into those places. However it is absolutely worth the shot…you only get to apply to colleges as a high school senior once in your life.

Because you’re IS, you should be fine. I think you have Reaches, matches and safeties set pretty well except for UNC. I think you need to move it to a reach because for OOS, it is arguably harder than Duke. 18% of 2010 freshman class was from OOS and the acceptance rate for them is about the same as it is for Duke.

Wow I think you’re like my twin. I’m from NOVA, I’m applying to many of the same schools as you, I have similar stats, and I went to Governor’s School last summer.

I think you have a great chance for UVA, William and Mary, and Wake Forest. I’m unclear about how hard UNC is to get into out-of-state-- you’re definitely qualified but that might be a reach. I would definitely consider Duke/similar schools reaches, but you never know.
Good luck with your applications!

Will you chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1199226-please-chance-6-schools-will-chance-back.html

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! I have looked more into UNC and I definitely agree that it’s going to be tough to get in to because i’m out of state. Any thoughts on my chances for Vanderbilt??

Easily into uva in state with those stats

Looks good. Your EC’s are really good. Make sure your essays are solid.

Thank you!

Will my 630 on CR hold me back from a school like Vanderbilt? I know it is quite low…my math is 700 and writing is 700 but I know Vanderbilt goes by the CR+M scores. I am pleased with my essays. Will getting an alumni interview increase my chances a lot? Should I try to shoot for the ED II?

For in state you definitely look good! You’re also really lucky that you’re from nova. I’m from Maryland and the out of state admit rates scare me SO much.

It’s amazing how much being in state helps for schools like UVA. Thank goodness!
I have an interview at Vandy coming up! Will this help me? Thoughts on my stats??

bump…

SATs pretty low for Vandy, which has had a big increase in applications the last few years. I would call that a high reach for you. Agree re UNC being harder than Duke out of state because it takes 85-plus percent from NC. You should be in good shape at UVA.

Could someone chance me?
I am applying to UVA, VT, Georgia tech, University of Illinois at urbana, Rennesaeler, and nc state.

I have an 800 math 630 reading and 600 writing for a 2030
750 physics and 740 math 2

I am an eagle scout and have an internship with an electrical engineer which has lasted for over 160 hr.
I program assembly robots when I am not working on circuits there.
I was in leadership in 9th and tenth. I am in math honor society. I am an active volunteer with senior centers, 5k run sponsorships, and cleaning up the environment with Boy scouts.
I am an instate for vt and uva.

I have straight A’s except for a c in spanish 2.
I especially want to know my chance of getting into UVA and if the spanish grade will affect me at all for UVA since I want to do electrical engineering. Thanks!!!

You should get into UVA no problem, especially in-state. Duke and Vanderbilt are a little bit of a stretch, but you are competitive and have as good of a chance as any qualified applicant.
