Chance me for UW/Berkeley/etc?

Hello all! So I am a rising senior and I wanted to kind of test the waters for the schools I was planning on applying to. I'm going into polisci with a minor in econ/business and I'm looking at University of Washington, Berkeley, Stanford, Columbia, and NYU. Thanks!

I expect to have awesome letters (but I mean, who doesn't) and decent essays

Looks solid for all schools except stanford and Columbia. Both schools are reaches even for the most qualified. But your stats put you in the 80 percent from which 5.7 is chosen for Stanford. My stats were similar to yours, with a few more APs and a legit college course and I’m attending stanford this year (Got rejected from Columbia btw). Also, do you have a hook? I interned at an international law firm for two years and taught underprivileged children in an ethnic community. Are you well connected to the Russian community or have interest in working with them?

ah ok thank you! I’m mostly focused on the other three and am kinda applying to Stanford/Columbia for fun. I don’t super have a hook but I was going to emphasize my advisory board because we host a bunch of events for everyone in our community and a youth summit every couple of years.

also I did participate in the JHCTY program for a couple years in middle school and got a state award for it. should i include that or is that too far back in my history to really make a mark?

Stanford: reach
Columbia: reach
Berkeley: match
NYU: match
UW: low match
