Hard to say - it will depend greatly upon the strength of your essays, as your situation is quite unique.

We don’t take teacher references/recommendation letters.

Your situation is unique - you have great extra curricular activities and took a rigorous course load, but your GPA isn’t that high (for the reasons you’ve said). If you really expand on that and talk about how you grew as a person / what you learned from all of the personal/family things that were going on … and write really nice essays, I think you have a good shot.

We have a minority program here, but we don’t blatantly take race into account. UW looks for diversity in the essays - so show your stuff there! Good luck!

my essays will be above average and explain my low gpa and struggles in full detail (i’ll also ask my english teachers for help)! :)

if everything except my gpa looks pretty good do i have a good chance? thanks

thanks speedsolver! :)

Yeah, if you write awesome essays, the only thing that will hold you back is your GPA.

Make it great! UW looks at applicants holistically, so your essays really play a huge role in admissions.

omg
i better get innnnn
does anyone know when we find out?
