Hi everyone. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could chance me for VA tech, UVA, GMU and JMU.
My GPA right now is a 3.7 unweighted, 4.0 weighted. Very low because of when I messed up sophomore year with almost all B+'s. I stepped up junior year and only got 1 B+. I will try my hardest senior year to get All A’s.
If senior year grades matter, I will get a 3.75 unweighted and 4.2 weighted if I do well. I am taking 6 AP classes. I took 3 junior year.
I don’t know if AP scores matter, but here they are:
APUSH: 5
AP Economics: 5
AP Lang: 4
AP World: 3
I have only taken the ACT once. Here are my scores:
Composite: 30
English: 34
Math: 28
Reading: 27
Science: 31
Writing/English: 32
I know that my math and reading are quite low, but I had little prep when I took it. I will study over the summer and try for a 32+. Also definitely need to get my math and reading to a 30+. I am confident in my English section though.
I’m in a few clubs but wasn’t very active. Not many remarkable EC’s or sports.
I am possibly a first generation student. My parents are divorced and as far as I’m concerned my dad didn’t go to college, but I am unsure whether he went in the years after my parent’s divorce. I haven’t spoken to him in a while.
What are your thoughts? I am aiming for UVA or Virginia Tech. My intended major is either Computer Science or pre pharmacy. I know that is not a major, but you can major into anything an do pre pharm. I haven’t decided on a major if I were to take this route.
Also, any ideas on how to increase my chances to UVA or VA Tech would be nice. Would you guys suggest SAT subject tests? SAT reasoning? I don’t think I can break 1900 on the SAT, but I’m more confident in my abilities on the ACT.
My GPA won’t change much. If senior year grades are factored in and I work my butt off, I’ll get a 4.2. Sophomore year really killed me :(.
Any tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
