Hey guys!
I go to a high school that is ranked in the top 20 nationally, which has been a bit disadvantageous in terms of my stats. I'm Hispanic and I have a huge upward trend starting at junior year, which I hear helps.
I'm interested in studying computer science, and the CS program at Vanderbilt is not as competitive as some other ones.

My stats:
- Applying EDII
- Great essay
- I just interviewed yesterday and it went great! The interviewer said he'd write me a good recommendation.
3.5/4 unweighted GPA
3.8/5 weighted GPA
rank: 45/145 (top 30%.. the school is very competitive)
31 ACT (10 writing)(32 math, 31 english, 31 critical reading, 30 science)
2100 SAT (660 math, 710 writing, 730 critical reading)

Have taken all honors and AP courses. Took 6 AP classes junior year and currently taking 6 AP classes my senior year. Will have 12 AP courses with scores of all 4-5 by the end of graduation (hopefully).

Extracurriculars:
New Scholar Academy Mentor (chosen by school to mentor incoming freshman during orientation and throughout the school year)
Vice President of a tutoring club
Member of Student Council
Parliamentarian of Culture Club
Masterminds (science trivia) competitor
KQSA representative (play music in dances, during morning, afterschool)

I took 5 AP classes junior year and I took an extra test just to get more credit. But, the other 6 classes are in my senior year and are therefore not reflected in my gpa

I would say you have a decent chance since your school sounds pretty competitive. They will look at your GPA and rank in the context of your school and judge you accordingly. That said, your subject tests are good (although you should probably take math 2 as well). You have some good ECs and 12 APs is excellent (which I’m sure you’re already aware of). Applying ED should help as well (there appears to be quite a difference at Vandy). Congrats on your hard work in high school and good luck in the admissions process!

I’d say it’s a low reach, and I’m confident they will see your stats in context, especially if vandy is familiar with applicants from your school. Tests look ok too.

I think you have a pretty good chance, considering you’re a URM and by looking at your standardized scores compared to your GPA (which is low, but hopefully the adcomm will look at it in the context of your school). Your ECs are slightly above average. Solid match at Vandy for ED II.
