Emory: Low reach/High match

Just to clarify, Georgetown is not truly Early Action, read the fine print, they prohibit you from applying to other schools ED because they expect you to accept their offer if it is given to you (in other words it is ED).
Vandy You are in ED

thanks. bump?

why not DUKE?

i thought it was restricted early action meaning you can’t apply anywhere else ED but you don’t have to accept the offer? and thanks

i’ve been considering duke but i’m not sure it’s the right feel for me

Vanderbilt University (maybe ED? chance me for ED and RD) – Reach//ED Target (In)
Emory – Reach
USC – Reach
UC Berkeley – Reach/Target
Georgetown University (EA?) – Reach
UCLA – Target
Johns Hopkins – Reach/Target
Wake Forest – Target

Some safeties:
UC Santa Cruz – Safe (I’m an alum! Loved it!)
UC Davis – Safe

can i ask why USC is a reach? just wondering. i love it there and it’s one of my top choices but i feel like my test scores and GPA make me a good candidate. it’s not a safety school by far but i think if UCLA is a target USC would be too

bump? anyone?

Vanderbilt University: high match/low reach
Emory: match
USC: match
UC Berkeley: match
Georgetown University: high match/low reach
UCLA: match
Johns Hopkins: high match/low reach
Wake Forest: low match
You have graet chances at every single one of those schools. Good luck!
and USC is obviously not a reach for you…

thank you!!!

Statistically you’re at least a match for all the schools on your list and your URM status is a powerful draw for many schools. But from a planning perspective I think it’s important to factor in admissions rates. Vandy (15%), Georgetown (18%), Hopkins (18%) and USC (20%) all have uncomfortably low admit rates while professing ‘holistic’ admissions policies. When a schools rejects at least 4 out of every 5 applicants and promotes the idea that admissions is about more than statistics, then I think the proper strategy is to treat them as Reaches. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into all these schools on the other hand it wouldn’t be out of the question to get a few head-scratching rejections.

thank you. yeah I understand that all of these schools are a bit iffy in the admissions process and you can never be sure so that’s why I have safeties. anyone else?

bump 10char?
