I’d call it a middle-range school, I’m applying with somewhat similar statistics. Your extracurriculars look good, and your numbers seem to be at around the average for Vandy. Good luck!

I think you have a good chance, your test scores look good! What do you think my chances are for Vanderbilt?
I’m a junior middle-class white female from a small town in NJ. I know this is low but I’m in the top 5% of my class or 20 out of 360 but that should go up this year. This year I have a 4.0 on the weighted scale or a 5.0 on the unweighted scale. I’m taking two AP classes this year, History and Psychology, and I should get a 5 on the AP tests since I have close to an A+ in both classes. I’m planning on taking AP Gov., Literature, and Statistics next year. I’m also in all honors classes. I plan to major in political science.

SATS
750 in Reading, 720 in Math, 780 in Writing but I’m retaking them.

Extracurricular
3 years as JV tennis player, 2 years playing JV lacrosse
I volunteer to help disabled children play basketball in my community
Children Specialized Hospital volunteer for 2 years 3 times a month
Lieutenant Governor for Key Club
NHS
Juvenile Committee

My essay should be pretty well written.
What are my chances? Could I make it?

Good GPA. Your standardized test scores are weak, esp. Critical Reading. So, unless the average SAT score at your school is ~1700, I would say,

Match at Richmond and Wake Forest.

Reach at Vandy, William & Mary.

Good news! I got into UVA early action so thats making me feel more positive about Vandy. Only 3,000 students were accepted at UVA early action.

That is really something uvahopefull2012! Congratulations :)

There is a reasonable chance you might get in at Vandy.
