<p>I think you stand a really great chance. Great SAT and ACT score (not sure which one you will end up sending, but both very good). Solid ECs and leadership positions, rigorous course load, and you said you can get very nice recs. </p>

<p>I think that you should try to emphasize the right ECs when you do your common app. As nice as your involvement in many clubs are, try to show really good dedication to at least a few. </p>

<p>UPDATE</p>

<p>I’ve decided that I’m probably going to apply ED1! How do you all think that’s going to impact my chances? Vandy is my number 1 choice, a statement that will probably become even more true after I visit this summer. </p>

<p>My unweighted GPA has changed to a 3.9 when I include my junior year grades. That 4.56 GPA was a result of human error and miscalculation by me. My actual weighted GPA is a 4.33. </p>

<p>In reference to my classifying my school as a large public: The size of my class is approximately 400 students. Would you consider that to be large, medium, or small? We’re in the Class 4A division for athletics, which means that we’re thought of as a large school. </p>

<p>Finally, some tips about how I should emphasize my ECs on my application would be greatly appreciated! What should I not include on it? I feel that my greatest commitment is to the music and drama program, but I also want to include my leadership and sports so that I look well-rounded.</p>

<p>ED1 is a great idea if Vandy is your first choice. You are clearly a very qualified candidate and I would be surprised if you applied ED1 and were not accepted. </p>

<p>My guess is that your high school would be considered large. Mine was basically the same size as yours and I think it was considered large. I personally think this is pretty immaterial, though. </p>

<p>Regarding your application: I’m not an expert on this stuff so I’ll just say what I think most would generally agree with and tell you to drop the JV sports, simply because you have Varsity. Most of your EC’s appear to be pretty meaningful, so I wouldn’t necessarily exclude any unless you think it just gets to be superfluous at some point. Again, this is just what I think, and obviously my advice means nothing unless someone else with more knowledge about resumes and college apps can corroborate this.
I think that selling yourself as well-rounded is all well and good so long as you emphasize your passion for drama and music. It’s not really about filling up your resume these days (although it certainly helps to do so, it’s just that most people would spread themselves too thin in trying. This problem does not apply to you, though) so much as it is about showing passion for something as well as an interest in pursuing whatever that may be.</p>

<p>Abce you have a GREAT CHANCE! Everything is rock solid. For RD I would have said you have a great chance still, but obviously can’t count on anything, as it is so competitive. However, if you are doing ED1, I am POSITIVE you will be an automatic acceptance!! GOOD LUCK</p>

<p>There is one piece of advice though. I see you hold quite a few leadership positions, so you should definitely highlight those. But remember to mention an activity in which you worked as part of a group, and took orders from someone else. In one of the admissions blog posts, the Dean (I think) wrote about how they look for people who can work as part of a team, not just leaders. So yeah, include an activity that demonstrates teamwork. <p>You seem like you have great stats/scores and classes. If you go ED i think you have a very high chance of getting in but regular decision is more risky.</p>

<p>I’ve been thinking a lot about Computer Science as of late. According to Vandy’s website, CS is an offering at the School of Engineering. I had never considered doing anything with engineering before, so I’m completely clueless about how this whole thing works. Will my chances of admission to Vanderbilt be lessened if I want to do CS because of my low math scores? Or is it that if I’m admitted to Vandy I will be able to take classes at any of the schools? Or can I be admitted to the School of Arts & Sciences and then just switch over to Engineering? How much will being in the School of Engineering alter my experience at Vandy? Sorry for all the stupid questions!</p>

<p>You’re math scores aren’t bad. Well, I don’t know if you had B’s. In my opinion, you should be fine. I actually had a B in regular computer science my freshman year and got into Engineering. You’re fine.</p>
