Chance Me for Vanderbilt!

Hi! I am an Asian female looking to apply to Vanderbilt ED 1. I would be applying as a chemical engineering major, if it makes any difference. I live in a state where about one person a year ends up at Vanderbilt.

Stats:
GPA UW: 4.0
GPA W: 4.36
Rank: 5th out of about 500
ACT: 36, writing:10
PSAT: 1510 - I’m assuming NMSF
SAT Math II: 800
SAT Chem: 760
Course load: I have taken 10 AP’s in the past two years, received National AP Scholar. I am taking 5 AP’s this year with a Calc 3 class taken on campus of a nearby college

EC’s:
Band: Section leader, varsity letter, All-State, won State Solo competition
I work at a math tutoring center about 5-6 hours a week
I’m the president of the Tech club at my school, which is this hybrid of tech and volunteering
NHS: Selected last year and meetings start this year
Materials Science Internship at my local university for one year
Statistics/R programming internship at the same university for two years

I’ve heard so many different things about how competitive Vanderbilt is, so I want to get some more opinions. Thanks!

I personally think you have a good chance. You have a great academic foundation and diverse activities like the internships are impressive. However, this applies to almost all of Vanderbilt applicants. Many are top ten, national merit scholars, AP scholars, have 30+ ACT scores. Not saying this to stress you out, I just want you to be aware of the reality. I’d say you can use your admissions essay to set yourself apart from other with similar academic backgrounds. I was admitted ED1 if that helps.

You have an extremely strong application for the ED1 round. I would bet on your getting in.
