You’re having a best friend write you a recommendation? Are you nuts??? No one wants to see that. Other than that, you don’t stand out to me in particular and seem to have a very typical application. So I would give the chance of a typical international applicant.

What can you pay?
It’s not just about test scores.
Your 11th grade percentage counts a lot. What happened there?

Agree with @jarett211; lots of fluff, no substance.

@jarrett211 What is the chance of a typical International applicant??? @“aunt bea” could you define substance??

Lower than the average acceptance rate than a typical applicant to the school. For example, if Harvard accepts 5%, I’d say you have 2-4%.

k, anything I could do to yet improve my application.

Don’t submit a recommendation from your best friend. What were you thinking that would add?

My Evaluation Form for Student’s on College Confidential:

GPA: Great, my only issue is with your junior year (a 78%). This demonstrates an interruption in an upward trend of grades. Colleges will question this.

SAT/ACT Scores: Basically Perfect

SAT II Scores: Perfect

Rigorous Courses?: Yes, you seem to be taking the hardest courses (as many people do)

AP’s: Perfect (AP scores have little effect on admissions)

EC’s: They seem good. However, in the information you have provided, nothing “pops” to me. Many student’s are presidents of clubs in high schools. Ivy League schools will not see anything that’s super special about you as many of their applicants are high achievers and presidents.

Volunteer/Work: I’m sure the work you did was fine. However, based on your vague descriptions, I am having a tough time evaluating them.

Recommendations: DO NOT use a friend’s recommendation. This is fairly useless to colleges due to bias. Your other recommendations seem to be great!

Awards: Average/Above Average (I do not usually expect students to have any unique awards)

Essays: N/A (Good luck!)

Reach: Ivies

Match: BU, UC’s, NYU

Safety: Claremont, PennState

Other Comments:

The online courses in computer programming aren’t worth mentioning in my opinion.

I evaluate people brutally. However, I also try to be accurate and answer your questions as best as I can! Feel free to ask me anything! Questions and comments are always welcome! Good luck and have a great day!

@whiteghost26 you are not doing the op any favors by listing Claremont as a safety. With an admit rate of 9.76%,it is tied w Pomona as the most selective LACin the country, and is a reach for everyone, and certainly much more difficult to gain admission than BU, UCs, or NYU.

Sorry…i meant @WhiteGhost26

Most of those universities will be full fees.
