Hi! I understand that my chances of getting in next year are probably very slim, but I am mildly obsessed with the school. I’m also hoping my vast curriculars and test scores will help.

GPA: 3.6 UW 4.5 W
ACT: 34
School: Insanely Rigorous Private College Preparatory

APs: Biology(5) , Art History (5) , Calc AB (4) , Language and Composition (5) , Economics (4), Gov (5) , Environment Science (5),

ECs:
-Musical Theatre: I have been perform in shows all over my town since the age of 6 and devote much of my time to it. I rehearse on average about 12 hours a week when I’m in production
-Dance: (ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop) Have been taking dance since I was four and take about 6 hours a week when I’m not rehearsing for a show and 3 hours a week when I am.
-Community Service: Started my own charity freshman year that offers free child care to the families of deployed and fallen military in my are.
-I volunteer at Positive Action Community Theatre. A company that offers theater workshop for people with mental disabilities
-Confetti: I am on the executive board of the student board at one of my youth theaters known as confetti. We fundraise for the theater and help with arts education.
-La Jolla Playhouse Student Board: I am a member of the student board at the prestigious professional theatre: The La Jolla Playhouse
-Varsity Dance Team- 10th-12th grade
-President and Founder of my school’s feminist club
-I am Liaison for my school. Basically we give tours to perspective students and help at school fundraiser’s and events.
-Debate Team: I’m a member but only go to about 2-3 debates a year because of my other commitments.

Also, if you think I don’t have a very good chance, could you make some reccomdations for similar schools that are within my reach. Thank You!

@maddiewillls - Actually, I see you as being a very strong candidate. Your UW GPA is a bit low, but your weighted GPA shows that you have taken a lot of difficult classes, and Vassar likes to see that. Also, your ECs look strong and interesting. The strength of your high school bodes well for you also. Write a killer essay, and I think you will be accepted though nothing is guaranteed at Vassar…obviously a tough school to get into. Good luck!

Not actually so much a reach as Catria suggests. You won’t wow them with your score and your GPA is on the low end, but it must be said that your EC’s are solidly above average. Combine that with good essays and recs and you could well earn yourself an admission.

You may also consider Georgetown and Boston College (both prob high-match for you).
