hi! I am wondering if someone could chance me for Villanova School of Business for Finance with minor of Computer Science? please be honest, and if you are able to, give suggestions on how I can become a stronger candidate.
GPA unweighted: 3.58
GPA weighted: 4.376
ACT: 30 (I plan on retaking)
3 AP classes this year, but I plan on taking 6 next year. For a total of 11 AP Classes my whole high school career.
I am an asian American female and am the first in my family to go to college if that makes a difference. I speak both Cantonese and English fluently and was born in California but now live in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and am a Junior in high school.
I am very involved in things other than school as well. I am on my school’s dance team (spirit & competitive) which is 2 seasons, lacrosse team, business club (1st in area competition and 5th in state), service club, president of ecology club, president of foreign exchange club, I was the 1st chair/section leader in band before I quit, student council, president’s club, teen advisory board at our local library, world language honor society, national honor society, robotics club and I was in a peer mentoring group. I also work, and volunteer at a hospital. I have done a college camp sort of thing for computer science at UIUC. I am cofounding an all girls robotics team for my school next year, and am set to have an internship at an engineering company next summer. also, I visited Villanova officially one time in March, and also once unofficially.

thank you so much in advance!
(I meant to write 5 AP classes next year not 6)
@xxvivianxx I am by no means an expert but I just went through this process with my son. He did apply to VSB and was deferred after the EA process. He decided after reading here and seeing all the stats for the applicants who did get accepted to change his app to CLAS. He did get into Villanova during the RD process. Here are his stats. SAT (1300 two part ) 30 ACT 9 APs treasurer of his class and NHS. 4.0 unweighted. Top 13% of his class. Plenty of community service and ECs. He honestly believes he would not have gotten into VSB. It is even more competitive than ever. They were just rated #1 undergraduate business school by Bloomberg. They also just became classified as a national rather than a regional university. Basketball team winning the national championship has increased the schools exposure. I think with the combination of these things it will continue to get harder to get into VSB. That being said… You seem like a really strong candidate. Do really well on your AP exams. Finish senior year strong. Everything helps. I definitely think it’s possible. Go back through this years threads and even the year before and read the VSB acceptance stats of other students. Of course, these are not the only factors. Villanova admissions definitely reviews applications holistically but there still needs to be cut offs. So, that’s were the past threads can be helpful! Good luck to you!!
As a current senior business economics major about to graduate from Villanova:
Your stats are pretty strong, however VSB is extremely difficult to get into. Considering the upswing that Villanova is currently in, with our basketball championship win, Bloomberg VSB #1 undergraduate business degree ranking, #3 national overall value-added ranking, and soon to be national ranking (starting in the Fall), VSB and Villanova in general will be even more difficult to get into.
If you are really excited about Villanova, I would recommend switching your application to CLAS, your stats are definitely strong enough to get in there. Try to do your best during freshman year, and then submit an internal transfer application and hope you get in that way.
Either way, good luck!
Ask your gc to check the Naviance stats and see if there is an ACT/SAT score difference for female vs male applicants. Villanova may get more make applicants to the business school, which may give females and edge
