Hello, I’m a junior looking to go into an engineering school in Virginia for college. I’m not sure if it’s worth applying to UVA or VT with my scores, so any feedback is appreciated on whether my extracurriculars make up the difference or not.
Here’s what I’ve done in high school:
4.5 weighted GPA so far, all A’s in my current classes
Class rank is 2/60
8th grade: French 1, advanced algebra 1, geometry
Freshman year: honors English, advanced algebra 2, French 2, biology, geography, orchestra, Stem club extracurricular
Summer: governor’s school chemistry week
Sophomore: honors English, precalculus, honors French 3, chemistry, world history, orchestra, FIRST robotics, National Honor Society, FIRST Dean’s List Semifinalist, helped start an FRC team
Junior: AP English, AP Calculus AB, C++, honors physics, advanced US History, orchestra, FIRST robotics, electrical lead for robotics, National Honor Society, golf team
Summer: I will be interning at a nearby DoD base through SEAP
Senior (planning to take): AP Calculus BC, AP Computer Science, DE Chemistry, US government, orchestra, English 12, FIRST robotics, electrical lead unless I’m voted out, National Honor Society, maybe golf
Scores: I have not taken the SAT yet, but my PSAT score was a 1340 and I have practiced SATs at home earning a 1310 and 1370.
The main schools I’m looking at are Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Old Dominion, and George Mason
Thank you!!!
