Hey guys! I am so nervous about VT esp after not hearing back about admissions today. I was hoping you guys could chance me for Virginia tech! Here are my stats:

The biggest thing other than my scores that would hold me back is that I am not very strong in math. I am in Algebra 2 as a senior which is rough.
VT is DEFINITELY my top top top choice but I really don’t know if my stats and stuff are good enough. What do you think?
And go to “entering freshman profile by cohort” and noodle around you can see a breakdown of SAT and GPA for your major. I’m guessing you will at least get into University Studies if you picked it as a back up. You then just take what a freshman in your preferred major would take and change majors sophomore year.

I think I might have had a few more that I put down but I can’t remember. Plus I have 3 sports and 3 jobs. Needless to say, I have kept pretty busy!!!
While your SAT composite of 1740 isn’t necessarily competetive for VT, your GPA, APs, and ECs (which particularly amaze me) are! My pals who also applied to VT (albeit OOS from NJ) got in with lower GPAs (~3.5-3.6) and similar SAT (1700-1800s) got in. They didn’t have nearly as many ECs as you did though. Since you’re a strong student and a VA resident, I see no reason as to why they wouldn’t accept you.
@Alex99 “While your SAT composite of 1740 isn’t necessarily competetive for VT…”
Actually she’s above the 75th percentile for the HD major. Look it up on the link I gave above. I can’t figure out why she wasn’t admitted yet. It’s probably something weird like they read all the HD applications at the same time or her transcripts and tests were received later than typical for this batch of acceptances.
Try calculating your chance in prepscholar. Go into google and type prepscholar virginia tech and calculate your chance with your numbers. It worked for a lot of the students at my school last year.
Hey lilpup2016! I found out the other day I was accepted into VTech during their regular decision round. My choice of major was mechanical engineering but I don’t know if there was anything questionable about admission into that major or not. It didn’t say anything about changing my choice of major so I will assume I did. You are so much more qualified than I am. I applied on Dec 26, 2015 and wasn’t expecting to hear back until April but I heard back on the 22 so don’t put checking your status off!
