My high school's average ACT is 23.

I would also greatly appreciate any tips on improving my chances for acceptance! Thanks in advance!

Your numbers are fine.

Do your ECs exhibit any passions of yours? Is there anything I’d be able to look at your resume and say “wow, emimoy1 really really likes to do ______”? Colleges like to see things that make applicants stand out somehow.

This is less an issue if you’re applying ED, but have you demonstrated any interest apart from visiting? Joined mailing list? Had an interview? etc.

The fact that you’re taking one non-honors class will not be the thing that denies you acceptance, especially if your advisor notes that you attempted to join that class.

Assuming that your essays and recs are good, I think you have a good shot.

Thanks, RyanMK! I’ve always been passionate about art, but I’ve put it on hold in high school to focus on academics. I’m just afraid that I would have to resort to ED to get in without knowing if I receive any FA.

Although some individuals recommend otherwise, I do recommend not applying ED if finances are an issue. Even if you can afford the package, you’ll never know what better deals you might have received.

Hopefully you will get to spend some time doing art stuff. Life without your passions isn’t much of a life at all.
