<p>Hello, everyone, first time poster here. I am a High School Junior attending a very small private school in rural Alabama. Lately, I have been worried to death over college admissions. I aspire to go into law, and Washington and Lee University has somewhat caught my eye. I have seen that this university has an extremely low acceptance rate, so I would love to have some input as to if I have even a remote chance to go. If you do judge that I would have a chance, do you think that I would be eligible for any financial aid or scholarships from the school? I ask this because, even if accepted, paying even half the tuition would be impossible for my family.</p>

<p>I plan to take the ACT, SAT and PSAT soon, and I will post the relevant information when I receive it.</p>

<p>I do not know if this may count for anything, but a teacher's husband, a successful local lawyer, attended W&L, and is good friends with the several of the senior staff at the school. He has stated that he would be more than happy to write a letter of recommendation for me, and has stated that, in his opinion, I should have no trouble getting in. Still, I am being quite pessimistic.</p>

<p>Like you, I am from Alabama and attending a small private university here. Your GPA and class rank is going to look strong no matter what school you apply to, merely because you will most likely be valedictorian. With the addition to your softs and extracurriculars, your chance will be a bit stronger. Continue to maintain the GPA, prepare to make a 25 or above on the ACT. Your network connection should do you justice with a recommendation letter. </p>

<p>As it pertains to Law School, are you a minority? That can also improve chances of admission. The LSAT score you should aim for is 165-168. That would put you in the 75th percentile. The GPA expectation is somewhere around 3.3-3.6 (25th%-75th%)</p>

<p>Financial aid for undergraduate may be promises for you if you graduate #1 in the class and get another impressive letter of recommendation. You should also apply for as many outside scholarships as possible.</p>
