Chance me please!!!

I will show a bunch of interest in this school both in my essay and application obviously…

Visit the school. I’m not even kidding. It does wonders for your application.

You have a really good chance though even with your stats, but WashU has a reputation for waitlisting qualified students they think won’t attend .

Sorry for double post, but when I said “even with your stats”, I mean that your stats are really good for the school, and you could probably get in based on merit, but WashU has that yield protection.

Thank you for your reply!!

I agree with AnnieBot - show interest in the school. This is a school that needs very much to think that it’s your number 1 pick, or they’re liable not to accept you. As well, they like it better if you don’t need much by way of financial aid.

ED is the number one way to show demonstrated interest. if financial aid is not an issue apply ED and i think your chances are excellent. Agree with all the post above. My son who has stats below

2310-(all subsets scores above 750)
Sat subject test -800 Math 2, and 760 History
Eagle scout
finish 11th grade with 6 AP total
good GPA
National merit commended(wont be a semifinalist)

I am nervous if he doesnt apply ED he wont get in. I would add make direct contact with your regional rep. One of the reasons they have skyrocketed in the us news rankings is protecting their yield . i have seen at son’s school excellent candidates get waitlisted because of this. If you can’t visit than make sure to see if they are having a info session at a hotel in your area as well as visiting your school. they also do alumni interviews so you can ask for that in fall if you can’t visit. I would say risky to apply ED if you never visited

only risky in difficult to commit to a school ED if you never visited but i think your chances are high of getting in ED even if you never visited

Question: how do you show that you visited the school/are really interested in apps?

You tell 'em. My kids registered for events, open houses, etc. Scheduled formal interviews. I know that at least some schools tracked the times they touched the school.

WHEN you visit wash university and many other universities they track those visits. I think they understand if you can’t visit but make sure if they come to your school to visit with rep and also hotel if they make a regional visit close to your home. wash univ. is all about demonstrated interest. sure some kids get in regular decision with no demonstrated interest but very difficult. son thinking of applying ED. he understands that it would be difficult to get in RD even with his stats.
