Can someone please chance me for transfer into Wellesley College for Spring 2017 semester. I have already turned in all of the required documents for the application. I’m just waiting for a response at this point. My high school GPA was very low. It is a 3.35 GPA. My college GPA is 3.844. My Mid-Term Grade Report is a 4.0, and I’m expecting my overall GPA to go up to 3.87 by the end of this semester. I think I did well on my Common App Personal Essay and my Wellesley Supplement Essay. I did very well on the interview with an alum. My letters or recommendations are okay. I do have one really good letter of recommendation from my sociology professor, and sociology is the major I’m applying for. I’ll let you know how my extra-curricular activities are like later on, if you need it. Thanks.
None of us can predict this for you. You just have to sit tight, and wait.
@happymomof1 Well thanks for nothing
What school are you currently in? Your college GPA is very impressive. If it is at a community college, it won’t help much, but if it is at college where the academics are comparably rigorous then you have a much better chance. Unfortunately @happymomof1 is right. Transfers are very arbitrary and has a great deal to due with how many slots they have to fill. It will vary dramatically from year to year.
@akin67 It is at a community college. But I have taken many honors courses with their honors program, if that helps. And I made a note of it on my application.
Without question, honors classes will help. But I would encourage you to not place all your eggs in one basket. Why is Wellesley appealing to you? Find other similar schools and apply to a number of them. If it is a women’s college you want Smith, Bryn Mawr, and Mount Holyoke are all excellent alternatives. If it is a liberal arts college you are after, look at Hamilton, Vassar, Colgate, Franklin & Marshall, Skidmore and Dickinson. In both groups you will find excellent choices with differing degrees of selectivity. It is entirely possible you may get into the more selective institutions and not some of the less selective. The more schools you apply to, the greater your odds of gaining acceptance to one of them.
@Popcorn11201 - I’m sorry that you took my comment that way. I had meant it to be supportive. None of us are on the admissions committees, so we really can’t tell you much other than hang in there, our fingers are crossed for you!
Bryn Mawr has a special program for CC transfers. Here is a link to that information if you are interested: https://www.brynmawr.edu/admissions/community-college-connection
I think you have a decent chance
Gpa is a tad on the low end (3.9 I believe is average)
However the strong essay and interview could compenstate for that
Ironically I’m looking at Wellesley too to transfer from a 2 year (not sure what semester)
Chance me back?
