Hi everyone! I’m a rising senior and I’m interested in applying to Wellesley, Vassar and Johns Hopkins. I’m planning on applying ED1 to Wellesley this coming fall!
GPA: Education system doesn’t use GPA but I think it’s 3.8+
SAT: 1480 (780 math, 700 reading/writing)
SAT subjects: Math 2 800, and chem (haven’t taken it yet)
AP: Psychology (5), Human geography (5)
- Both are self-studied because I wasn’t allowed to take the IB course for it/ school didn’t offer it
IB HLs: English, Math, Econ
IB SLs: Physics, Chemistry, French (5)
Extracurricular:
- DECA: Top 15 oral case study, top 10 at regionals (9,10,11, 12)
- FBLA: General member (9), trainer (10), secretary (11), VP (12)
- Science Olympics: won some small awards (9,10,11,12)
- Duke of Edinburgh: School leader (11,12), silver award recipient
- Cross Country: made cities but it’s not really a big deal (11,12)
- Fencing volunteer: Volunteer with the beginners in fencing twice a week for the past year
- Fencing: I have been fencing for the past couple of years. I have earned a D rating (potentially a C). This is by far what I spend the most time on and I have reached out to the coaches at the 3 schools to be recruited. My application is still in the pre-read process for Wellesley and JHU but Vassar has told me I’m a good candidate. The coach and I have set up an official visit.
I’m in the full IB diploma program at my school. I honestly think my school has a grade deflation problem because of all the IB schools in the area, my school sends the least amount of students to top American schools. (I’m international). I’m scared this will hurt my chance at Wellesley because no one at my school has gone there before. For JHU, a student 4 years ago got in but I’m worried because my GPA and SAT scores are too low.
I’m wondering how likely I would get into these schools if I have a sport as a hook?
Thanks!
