Chance me for Wellesley

I’ve already applied Early Evaluation (I get my decision the same time as RD but they will tell me what my chances are in February) but I can’t stop stressing. Wellesley is my dream but I worry that my stats are too low.

Unweighted GPA- 3.74

ACT- 31

Class Rank- top 10%

Extracurriculars- ~10 years of horseback riding, United States Pony Club (kind of like 4H)- attended nationals 3 years in a row for quiz, 9 years of flute, marching band (Flute section leader), founder of a local gun control activism group that I’ve organized events and been interviewed for, school newspaper, volunteering with freshman transition/orientation events, National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, quiz bowl.

APs-

APUSH- 4

AP Lang- 5

AP US Gov- 5

currently taking AP Lit

Major: Political Science

Recommendations were from my AP Gov and AP Lang teachers who both really liked me, so those should hopefully help

I interviewed and it went really well, I feel like they got a sense of who I am

Common app essay- I’m actually proud of it, my AP Lit teacher really liked it and I think it conveys my motivation well

Wellesley Essay- alright, I worry that the topics I chose were too common, and I agonized over this so much that I worry it didn’t turn out as well

Demographics- White girl from a public school in New England

Awards- National french exam silver medal, NH scholars arts emphasis

I think you are a clearly a good student, you challenge yourself by taking a tough schedule, and you do really well. The rec letters you describe will help, and if the common app essay you describe conveys your motivation well, you are on the right track- from what I am told, the common app essay really means a LOT.

That being said, I think you are being realistic as you clearly are smart enough to understand how difficult Wellesley has become to get into. Ten years ago or so, I’d have said that you’d be a solid YES. Now, I think you’re a solid “Probably” - stronger than a “Maybe”

I understand the waiting game stinks - so in the meantime, do your best to enjoy your senior year!

Best of luck to you!
