Hey. I feel that you have a pretty good shot at at least one of the schools that you had on your list. I’m not going to state the obvious by saying the Ivy League (and Stanford) are reaches, but I’m quite sure that:

Duke/Wash U/Rice - high match/low reach (odd to say that about Duke)

Chance me back please!

I’m confused. How do you know your junior year AP scores since they don’t come out until next week?

@Falcon1 I was just guessing my scores

Do you have any ECs relating to business? I think that’s the one thing that could make your application a bit better. Other than that, you have a really good chance!

@fifteenpapers Yeah FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is a club that I’m starting next year. I’m also involved in investment club, and I will be doing financial analysis for a law firm this summer.

Wow! That sounds great! I think you have a great chance of getting in!

bump

Your record is very impressive, I must say. I think it looks a lot like the typical Ivy admittance as you have very good academics, community service, and leadership. Obviously your race will go against you in admissions, but I believe the fact that you are a varsity HS athlete will offset that. Generally, Asians seem to lean towards playing an instrument instead of playing varsity sports, which makes many of their applications look very similar to the adcom, resulting in many declinations of highly-qualified applicants. Sports show that you have a competitive mindset while playing an instrument does not.

Wharton is the best undergraduate business school in the country, hands down. It’s hard for anyone, but given your record coupled with the ED I think you should get in. Don’t have the mindset that your a shoo-in, though, because you never know with the Ivies. I also like that you founded and are the president of your schools FBLA chapter. I did the same thing at my high school and it has opened many doors for me and given myself the honor of winning a leadership award. That will really show your interest in business (and your internship at the law firm this summer doing financial analysis will help greatly as well).

As for the other schools on your list:

UT Austin Business Honors - match
UChicago - low reach

Harvard - it’s a toss-up for everyone, but you definitely have a shot
Princeton - it’s a toss-up for everyone, but you definitely have a strong chance
Duke - high match
Columbia - low reach
SMU - safety
Yale - it’s a toss-up for everyone, but you definitely have a strong chance
Stanford - it’s a toss-up for everyone, but you definitely have a shot
WashU - match
Rice - match

Hopefully you won’t have to worry about any of these schools because of an admittance to UPenn Wharton! But honestly, don’t assume you’ll get in so that you won’t be down on yourself if you don’t and you’ll be ecstatic if you do!

Chance me back?

Expect a waitlist from UChicago.

@orlandomagic98 Thanks! I chanced you back.

You have extremely good stats in terms of grades, scores, etc. However, for most of the schools you are applying too (Ivy Leagues, etc.) they are the norm and won’t really help you to stand out. You have pretty good extracurriculars, but I think that you could possibly add a couple more safeties to your list (most of these colleges are toss-ups).
Has been stated before, but:
Ivy League: Reaches
UT Austin: Low Reach/Match
UChicago: Low Reach (but it really depends a lot on your essays)
Duke/WashU: Match, although depends on what you’re applying for.

Chance me back!

^ So UT Austin (with its 40% acceptance rate) is a low reach but Duke (with its 10% acceptance rate) is a match?

You can’t make this stuff up!

@NerdyChica oops, I may have accidentally switched them around haha. It does depend on what you’re applying for (eg. BME is tougher for Duke), but it should have been just WashU for the match on the bottom. Duke I meant to put as a reach. Thanks for noticing!

Update: I was accepted into Wharton ED!! Hope this thread can help some aspiring Penn students!
