Strengths: Rigor of curriculum, GPA, scores, essays, recs
Weakness: No hooks whatsoever, depth but no breath at all for ECs

Thanks again for chancing me. From what I see, you have AMAZING EC’s and awards. Seeing your application I might not apply at all, haha. I honestly can’t really find anything wrong with your application, other than you don’t have legacy there, which you can’t control. Looks like I’ll have to plan on graduate school there. Good luck.

Haha, you should look into Penn’s testing policy a little bit more. If you’re planning on sending the sat IIs, you’re gonna have to send all of them plus SAT reasoning scores.

^ I agree. I think you might have to send all scores (not sure, though).
Overall, seems like a great app :)

Your test scores and academics in general are way better than mine (I’m an EDer). If the essays and recs are as good as you think, I bet we’ll be seeing each other next year at Wharton.

I sent all my test scores to Penn after checking their policy. Now I just wait…I guess. It’s going to be a brutal 3 months, especially since I regret not EDing.

^ I made a mistake that I regret. I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to commit at that point, although I am now. Oh well, no good comes from focusing on the past.

^ I worked out this system with an exporter in India to get authentic Indian jewelry for a fraction of the price. I have it shipped here and resell it since most large companies have such high prices. It actually sells very fast.

I made the website and some inventory programs to keep everything organized, did all the paperwork to make it an official business (S-Corp), am working on hiring a fulfillment center, making it ECommerce, etc.

Honestly, there were so many hiccups that it made for a great essay. Profit margins are high, and I enjoy running it. It was still worth working everything out :).

Hahaha I don’t think you’re URM and they won’t look at first generation college if you’re family is making 200,000+ (which is quite impressive btw). But overall very strong application, I’m jealous.

@avatarmage I thought the same thing as you (I’m Indian too) but if you look carefully he says “Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None”

@DRose2012: you have an amazing shot at Wharton. Are you doing any specific program (Huntsman or M&T)?

^ Nope. I found the programs intriguing, of course, but overall, I decided I’d rather have freedom to choose my own courses in those other schools and maybe minor/major in another field without being limited by the programs. I know they’re excellent and provide great opportunities, but I want to keep my options open.

My bad then overall as I said very nice application all you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best with schools like Wharton. May I ask how your high school compares to others in the nation? Is it on the us news or newsweek lists?

You are at least better than 50% chance to get in RD, but you will be sweating it out needlessly and had you applied ED you’d probably be in already.

Good luck! Write a great essay expressing your interest in Penn/Wharton. You’re going to be successful no matter what. Let us all know how to get cheap, real rubies!
