Chance Me for Wharton

Hello,

I'm thinking of applying to Upenn early decision and I would like to know what my chances are for getting into Wharton, I want to major in finance.

I have a 3.59 GPA out of 4, I have a 33 ACT, I don't plan on taking the SAT. I'm going to take AP Physics, BC Calc, AP Comp. Sci., AP Stats, AP Econ, Mathematical Modeling( It's an independent research class based around math), Honors College Prep and Varsity Physical Education. I've taken the highest classes available to me aside from English (I'm dropping from AP to Honors).

EC:
- Peer-to-Peer Tutoring Service (Been involved for 2 years)
- Athletic Leadership Council (Been involved 3 years)
- Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Service ( Been involved 2 years)
-On and off head sound engineer for Vocal Jazz Program ( Been involved 2 years)
-Varsity Soccer 4 years
-Club soccer for 3 years
-Track (2 years)
-DECA( 1 year)
- Church worship band

Leadership:
- President of Peer-to-Peer Tutoring Service
- President of Athletic Leadership Council
- Executive of Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Service
- Captain of Varsity Soccer

At the state level for DECA, I place top ten for finance( It was my first year), and I also placed top ten for a Learn and Earn Project.

I am also Hispanic.

Thanks for your time.

If only you’re unweighted GPA was higher, I’d say you’d have excellent chances of getting in. As a hispanic that’s also playing sports, you represent the diversity Wharton is looking for. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how much harm a 3.59 might do, do you have any C’s?

I don’t have any c’s. I got only 2 a’s sophomore year and that’s why. Last year I only got one B so I’m hoping that the turn around will help me out.

^The upward trend will definitely be a positive. I hate to be pessimistic, but I’m still not really liking your chances with that GPA. Thankfully, everything else seems to be solid so you’ll just have to apply and see like everyone else.

I think your ECs are excellent, however, your GPA would probably be the biggest thing.
And I don’t get why you are not taking the SAT. I think a high SAT score will make your chance higher.
