Glad to hear you’re interest in W&M. From the information you provided you certainly sound like a very competitive applicant. The one question we might have is why you will have more APs in your junior year than your senior year. This is not to say that your schedule is not rigorous, it most certainly it. But we generally like to see rigor increase each year with the senior year being the most challenging.

We also caution students to remember that W&M is highly selective and even more so for OOS students (only 27% are admitted).

Remember, merit based aid and financial aid are not the same thing. Financial aid is need based (at W&M you submit the FAFSA and our Financial Aid Office determines what aid the federal government can provide you in the form of loans/grants/work study). All students who apply to W&M are reviewed for the few merit-based awards we have and only 50 tuition assistance scholarships are awarded each year (from a pool of 13,000 applicants) so unfortunately no one’s chances for merit aid are especially high.

Your academic credentials may put you in consideration for our Monroe Scholarship which is W&M’s honor program but the money provided is not for tuition but instead for an independent summer research project.

You can learn more about merit scholarships at [William & Mary - Financial Aid & Scholarships](http://www.wm.edu/admission/undergraduateadmission/applicationprocess/aidscholarships/index.php) and more about our process and any applicant’s chances on our Admit It! Blog ([W&M Blogs Chance Me](http://blogs.wm.edu/2010/12/14/chance-me/))

At my school there are only 3 AP Classes that I haven’t took (US History, Environmental, and Computer Science). I am not really good with computers and US History is a junior class. I could have taken Environmental, but I’m not really interested in it as a class.

That sounds fine. 5 APs your junior year is certainly above and beyond the normal rigor we see in our applicants and it’s hard to go up from 5 APs so it’s not a huge deal.
