Chance me for Williams, Davidson, Cornell, Brown, etc.

Hi! So I'm applying to a lot of schools RD and I was wondering if you guys could chance me for some other schools to which I am planning to apply. Schools are:
Cornell, Hamilton, Washington and Lee, Bates, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Davidson, Williams, SUNY Geneseo, University of Rochester, Colgate.

Gender: M
Ethnicity: White
34 ACT (35 english, 36 reading, 32 math, 33 science)
2220 SAT (760 CR, 660 M, 800 W)
800 chemistry SAT II
700 math level 2 SAT II
4.0 UW GPA, not sure what weighted GPA is on 4.0 scale
5 on AP Chemistry exam (only AP class offered at my school)
Ranked 3 out of 75.

Thoroughly involved in vocal music performance. Member of my school's choir, select choir, and boys octet. Frequent soloist in all three. Also was a two-time qualifier of NYSSMA area all-state choir with near perfect score in vocal performance.

Involved in school productions for every year of junior and senior high school (small, jr.-sr. school). Main lead for five consecutive years. Linus (You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown), Benny (Guys & Dolls), The Lion (The Wiz), Javert (Les Miserables), and Riff (West Side Story).

Class president for five consecutive years. Organized COUNTLESS fundraisers, dances, and other school events. Became president of entire student council at beginning of senior year. As president, I established a set of holistic school goals that encompassed athletics, academics, and charities for the entire student body to achieve. Organized a fundraiser that benefitted a local family in need, organized a food drive that donated approximately 1,200 food items to a local soup kitchen (spent 15 hours collecting food from my neighborhood with my wagon), and am currently organizing a fundraiser that will benefit an organization that provides for abused and neglected children.

Member of cross country team for six years. Captain for three. Individual state qualifier in 2009, first team small school in my league for two years. Devoted SO MANY hours to this sport, including waking up at the crack of dawn every monday, wednesday, and friday for early morning runs.

Member of track team for six years. Captain for two. School record holder in 4x800 meter relay, two-time nominated track team all-star, three-time sectional qualifier.

First chair euphonium in school band for four years.

Part time job throughout the summer since the end of my sophomore year at local convenience store (scoop ice cream, run register, and organize stock)

Member of NHS since acceptance in eighth grade.

Overall, I come from a very small school and thus did not receive the opportunities of other students who attend schools that include more honors and AP classes, though I did the best I could and completed as many high level math and science classes at my school that I could. My class ranking system is BOGUS (college keyboarding receives the same weighting as AP chem, and all my friends receive 100s. I chose not to take it because I wanted to incorporate musical classes such as band, chorus, and college music theory into my schedule and didn't want to take advantage of easy classes that did not interest me merely for the purpose of class rank.)

I think you have a shot at all your schools. I don’t really know much about the liberal arts ones, but Cornell Yale Brown and Columbia are all pretty much lotterys. I think you will be very competitive and have a much better chance than a lot of applicants. Your best shot is Cornell, as the other 3 are reaches for essentially everyone. Do not worry about the oppurtunities and classes in your school. Colleges want to see you take advantage of every oppurtunity your school offers, and see you succeed in as hard a course rigor as possible. Your Ec’s also look very good and you seem like you are very involved in them which is important. Overall you have a great shot everywhere, but some of those colleges are extremley difficult to get into no matter if your are perfect in everything. Good luck!

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1418125-chance-me-duke-other-top-schools.html

bump please :)

buuuuump??

one more bump hehe

okay, last bump. I’ll chance back!

I’d say matches to all those schools except the ivies- those you have great shots at, but they are highly selective so they are basically reaches for everyone

If I knew someone like you was also applying to Hamilton, I would’ve just stopped trying, haha.

In all seriousness, you definitely have a legitimate shot at all these schools. The class president thing is HUGE and could be difference maker. I’d say that and Eagle Scout are two of the best ECs you can have. I also applaud you for not just using the title and actually organizing events (my class president on the other hand used his title to get into Dartmouth). Overall, I think you can get to the Ivies.

If we both did end up at Hamilton though, that would be pretty cool. Thanks for the help on mine BTW.

All parts of your application are very strong with the exception of your Math II subject test. That being said, all the schools on your list are still mid to low matches, save for the ivies, which you still have a great shot at. The 700 may hurt you a bit, so if you can improve it, I’d urge you to.

Cornell - Low Reach
Hamilton - Match
Washington and Lee - Match
Bates - Match
Yale - Reach
Brown - Reach
Columbia - Reach
Davidson - Match
Williams - Match
SUNY Geneseo - Safety
University of Rochester- Match
Colgate - Match

You’re an excellent candidate for all of the non-Ivy League Schools. Cornell’s your best shot, the other’s are unlikely. I know it’s not fair, but your lack of AP Classes hurts you a lot. Nothing much you can do about it now though. Good luck!

Thanks guys for all the advice and feedback!
DTXJunior-For Yale, Brown, and Columbia I just submitted my ACT because they require either the SAT I with two SAT II’s or the ACT with writing, and I knew that my ACT was a little stronger than my SAT and that my 700 would hold me down a bit. Thanks!

Good ECs, not too sure about the LACs but Brown and Cornell are reaches in which you have a good shot at. Their reaches for everyone anyway unless your the President’s daughter. Good luck.

I’d say Brown’s still a low reach, but you have a very good shot at Cornell with those credentials. All other schools are a match. Make sure you make yourself stand out in your essays. Good luck!
