P.S.:

Would applying to a lot of scholarships at WASHU demonstrate interest?

I chanced you in the “What Are My Chances?” Thread, but I’ll second your last question. I’d like to apply for several of the scholarships as well, especially the research grant. I’m sure it would help some, especially if you stood out in the applicant pool, it couldn’t hurt.

You can get rejected if you apply ED, where you are not accepted for ED and not accepted for RD. You can also get deferred where you are put into regular admissions. Although I don’t see you getting flat out rejected in ED.

I apologize though, I missed the ED part. I’d say 55% accepted, 45% deferred, of which the 40% is probably split between 20% waitlisted, 20% rejected.

Again these probabilities mean little to nothing, but that’s my honest opinion.

If I seem overly harsh, it’s because nothing really stands out on your application compared to many other Asian Americans that also have tennis, tutor/math things, and piano or violin. Wash U only accepts so many because none really stand out from the pack – although most, including yourself, are certainly qualified. There’s no hook that will make you stand out – make sure to keep up with the demonstrated interest which you mentioned you intend to do. Visiting twice before ED probably isn’t necessary.

OK i was a little confused, thanks for your help!

Do you think that coming from IL is an advantage or a disadvantage, because I do not know of anyone in the last couple years that has gone to WASHU from my town.
