Chance me for WUSTL, please? :)

4.4194 weighted GPA
3.7179 unweighted GPA but my school mainly goes off of weighted
33 ACT; 34 reading, 34 english, 32 math, 33 science, 10 writing
Not taking the SAT
My school doesn't do class rank, but I know I'm in at least the top 8%; I go to a very competitive public high school

No regular classes

Accelerated: Algebra II, Pre-calc stats and pre-calc discrete

Honors:
Bio, Spanish 2, 3 and 4, English (fresh. and soph. year), history of world civilization, Advanced Honors Chem/Phys (2 year class, sophomore and junior year)

AP:
AP Euro (5), AP US (4), AP Lit and Comp (4), and next year: AP AB Calc, AP Chem, AP Physics C, AP World History, AP Spanish Lit, and AP Lit and Comp. Aiming for at least a 4.6, if not a 4.8. I think I can do it.

ECs (they stink):
Been swimming competitively since I was about 6, and will have been on my HS team all four years (JV, unfortunately)
Timed for the boys swim team
Model UN for 3 years
Interact (service club) for 2 years
Peer tutor for 2 years
Involved in a local tutoring conference
Went on a People to People trip to China two summers ago
Attended a pre-AP summer program in Spain this summer, got 36 hours of credit
Doing a pre-med program at Northwestern this summer
Hopefully volunteering at Lutheran General next year. I've always wanted to but my schedule always conflicts with their requirements
National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Cum Laude

My essay is about how having a sister with Cerebral Palsy has made me a more independent and driven person. I think it's pretty good.

I intend on going Pre-med. I want to be a pediatric oncologist.
I plan on applying EARLY DECISION. Financial aid is not a serious concern at this point. Will this boost my chances?

Thank you so much for your time!

Washu is need blind I believe. Id say with ur stats you have a decent chance for ED.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using CC App

secondarrow2, WashU is not need-blind. If financial aid is not a concern, I would not apply for it. Be SURE though that money isn’t a concern before not applying for FA.

I’d say you definitely have a chance but you’re no shoo-in. Go for it though  What’s life without taking chances?

I’d say a very high match/low reach, based on your uw GPA and approximate decile at a very selective school. You should get at least deferred if you apply ED. You are a strong applicant applying to one of the most selective schools in the country. Your EC’s do NOT stink! WashU may say they are need blind (or maybe not) but, in fact, I believe they are quite need aware. Best of luck to you.

Yeahh I don’t think I’ll be getting much FA anyways with my father’s salary and my college savings account but my parents are making me apply for it :/

I don’t think you have enough that stands out…your GPA isn’t amazing, your ACT isn’t amazing, and your ECs aren’t amazing. Applying ED will help…make sure you also visit and get an interview at least.

@people that say anyone is a high match / low reach: No one is a high match or low reach at Wash U, even when it comes to ED.

I can’t quote the last part of marcdvl’s post on this dumb Android app, but if I could I would quote it and say

This.
