Would applying to a lot of scholarships at WASHU demonstrate interest?

thank you!

Strong chances!! Deffo ED, if you apply.

Hey, you just chanced me, so I’m returning the favor!

Haha I bet that 32 English is nagging you…oh well. It looks like you have a good shot (even better ED). The only thing that’s holding you down is your EC’s, as they’re pretty standard and you don’t really have too many leadership roles in them (unless you just haven’t listed them out). I’d pour yourself into your essay and try to get exceptional recommendations. Also, DEFINITELY visit AND get an interview. It will look fantastic, and they DO keep this stuff on file. On their undergraduate admissions website, it even says that the amount of interest you show through campus visits, interviews, etc. will strengthen your application. Statistically, I’d say 75-80% ED and 60-65% RD. Keep in mind that RD is most likely going to be a crapshoot, although almost all college admissions are these days.

As far as the scholarship applications go, I doubt it would help that much, especially if you’re applying ED. I’m pretty sure they don’t even get around to those until after the ED decision date, so if you don’t think you’ll win any/don’t need the money, I wouldn’t bother with it.

Maybe we’ll be classmates next year! Go WUSTL Class of 2016!!!

Well I mentor incoming freshmen and I was captian of scholastic bowl…
I dont know if those are very good.

Im also going to run for NHS president.

I thought maybe scholarships would help because it shows interest or something.

I think you have a pretty good chance. Remember that at WashU, they really want to see you show some interest. That means visiting, scheduling an interview if possible, and–if you’re sure that’s where you want to go–applying ED. Any way you can show that you’re genuinely interested in attending WashU.

I can tell you that my brother’s kid went to Wash U, majored in business, and now 3 years out of school, he is making $200,000 a year.

This is exactly right. WashU has a low yield; this is why they want to see demonstrated interest.

thanks you guys!

You have a solid chance for where your applying to! You may want to apply ED to improve your chances, but overall, you have a great chance as it is to get accepted. Very solid.
