what was the Yale summer internship you were involve in, just out of curiosity? I was at the YSM last summer too.

your SATs are kind of holding you back, and I don’t see a “hook” to your app. you have a lot of assorted random great things, like that fundraiser you organized, the marching band thing, & the internship. which will you emphasize? what is your story?

if you emphasized the right things and assuming your recs are good, I’d say you have a shot at Yale, Brown, and Cornell (they’re toss-ups) and are in at all the others.

I think you can get into Cornell. My friend had the same class rank and similar SAT I/II scores and got into Cornell through Early Decision. I can’t say what his chances were, but, because he got in, you should have a better chance then him if you can write a decent essay and schedule an interview with one of their alumni. You have amazing extracurriculars, especially marching band and all others (unlike him). By the way, were you referring to your school’s symphony orchestra or a regional one?

For Yale, that internship will definitely help you. The essay is probably more important to Yale than many other colleges, so hopefully you put 110% effort into that and wrote about whatever’s most comfortable to write about. Someone I know wrote about Pokemon and, surprisingly, got into Yale with a GPA and SAT I score lower than yours. Can’t really give you a percentage, but expect to be deferred. Getting in through early action could actually be harder than regular decision because early applicants are often very qualified and consist of students who already have strong standardized test scores (applying regular decision gives one a chance to get better scores in November and December)

I don’t know what to tell you about your chances at other places.

Yale (early acton)- low reach…maybe even a match with that summer program
brown-match
cornell- match
rice- match…rice is weird you need good essay and good EC but score wise you should be fine
duke- match
washington univ in st. louis- in
tufts- match
case western reserve- in

Yale (early acton)- mid reach
brown-mid reach
cornell- low reach
rice- match
duke- high match
washington univ in st. louis- high match
tufts- match
case western reserve- in

Ivies will be tough…a higher CR score would’ve been helpful, or if you’d taken the ACT. But Ivies are tough for everyone, so we’ll see.

A huge factor is showing dedication in your applications, not just joining a bunch of clubs. If you’ve been involved with something for a long time, BRING THAT OUT!!!

i actually took the ACT and got a 31 which i thought was low so i didn’t report it… should i send it in? and i’ve attend to all of my clubs regularly for 4 years for most of them and some for 3 years.

Might loo at some good safety schools like Holy Cross-good academics and slightly easier to get into. HC has very nice campus and location -1 hour from Boston. Also Holy Cross has a marching band and good science programs.

I would say you are definately in at Rice and Tufts.
I think you have a very good chance of getting into Cornell. A friend of mine just got in EA with less than you have. I think you would also have a good chance with Duke too since they tend to stress the math more than the CR.
Yale and brown are reaches, but they are for pretty much everyone. But you should definately apply anyway, you’d have a good shot.
I’m applying to Brown as well and i know it is definately a reach.
Good Luck!
